I am so sorry to tell you that you have an optical block related problem. All the symptoms you have described match the description of an optical block failure. Replacement block nearly costs as much as a new tv. Is the tv under warranty? There have been several class action lawsuits against companies producing faulty rear projector failures and nearly all of them here in India have been decided in favor of customers. Worth a try if the tv is less than 5 years old.

Hi Bubba.

You can try doing a reset from service menu. There is also an LCD adjustment on service menu that can often fix the problem.

First check that the problem does not depend on a faulty connected device (eg. a receiver) or on a bad cable. Also try resetting the set by disconnecting power cord for about ten minutes.

To enter the service menu:

  1. Select an input with no cable or device connected (eg. Ant B, Vid2).
  2. Turn off the set and wait until the fan turns off.
  3. Hold down input and power buttons at the same time.
  4. The servicemenu should appear on display, release input button first, then power button.
  5. Use the remote to browse service menu, and select reset.
  6. Press exit button on remote twice to exit service menu.
  7. Chance source back to regular input.
If that does not work, there may be a fault, concerning LCD, terminal circuits (input), light engine, or video circuits. The lamp does not cause green hue.

If you want a quote on repair, call Hitachi at the phone number listed on the owners manual.

Here all parts for this set.

Regards.

Ginko.

how do I get too the led adj?

There are no adjusment knobs on this TV. This is not a Sony CRT, it is an Hitachi rear projection LCD.

As said settings and adjusment is done from service menu, operating remote to select LCD Adjust or reset. If that does not work, then faults that can cause green hue may be related to input, video section, light engine, or LCD panel.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First check whether all the cables from your dish net work are fine and connected firmly. If yes then you'll need to pull off the front of the TV, behind the speaker grill there would be a panel. Remove the panel and check for a black box hanging over there. It has 6 controls on it, 3 are marked as focus and 3 as screen. You'll need to adjust the screen. If you turn these too high you can damage a tube. So we are doing real small adjustments. Turn the color off on the TV and adjust the red, blue & green controls up till you get a fine picture. Also adjust the focus until you get a clear picture. And, if it doesn't resolve the issue then it is an intermittent blue picture tube, a bad blue driver transistor on the CRT board, a bad connection on the blue CRT board, or a problem in the RGB coming from the video jungle IC. Please replace whichever has gone bad. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

You need a simple color adjustment. (Color Calibration)

You don't need to spend money on this. Try it for yourself.

Your main problem is that your color temperature is set to warm.
You need to change temperature to COOL or 6500K depending, on how it is labeled.

You will see improvement, but there is a little more...
Move "Color" DOWN from it's current position (probably at 50) to somewhere between 30 and 40. (Just a couple of clicks above where the color rapidly washes out.)

At this point there will still be slightly unnatural color to skin tones, but all the artificial "sunburn" and blaring red will be gone.

Last (as far as color goes) move the tint 2 to 4 clicks toward green. This added green tint balances the color so that the flesh tones become completely accurate and realistic.

For even better detail, continue your home calibration here:

My 61" hitachi rear proj has a very dark picture.

It sounds that lamp in TV is weak and not throwing enough light to bright the screen for good image.
How old is this TV and did you replaced its Lamp recently?
If lamp has not been replaced yet or in last 2-3 years, replace it.
