Try disconnecting the red wire from the hv distribution block right behund the front speaker grill then take off the wood cover it looks like a distributor cap with a bunch of large red wires connected to it the wires run to the picture tubes, and one goes to the flyback tranformer on the pc board.the high voltage is black or grey in color

Power-On Problem on a 46" Sceptre Flat Panel

The high voltage spike damaged electronic components inside your tv. Transistors and microchips are very sensitive to high voltage spikes even if they last for a fraction of a second. It can probably be repaired by a tv repair person but if the tv is several years old, it would be better to just buy a new tv. The cost for a new tv is much lower now than it was just a few years ago.

Hello, most common faults, such as CRT TV will not turn on. The reason stems from the low power supply failure, or from the high power supply. There are two transformers suppliers, with more common high-tension transformer goes bad. Price of 80 or $ 100, sounds reasonable replacement of transformer. Along with this need to perform some tests that require a professional, to confirm that the problem is due because of transformer. One test is to test basic stability, voltage power reaching the high-voltage transformer. If lower than normal voltage. Then perform the same test, when you break the initial snap of the transformer. If the voltage rises to the desired level must be to replace the high voltage transformer. Good luck!

When turn tv on it blows fuse on the power supply board

It means you have a power supply problem or high voltage issues. RCA sets are well known to take out a number parts when they break down. I suggest a tv tech and an estimate.

How do you stop the tv from ringing? I turn it off and it stops but starts back after you turn it back on.

This is a bad capacitor or high-voltage transformer/power supply that will soon burn out. An ohmmeter will be needed to find the faulty capacitor or high-voltage transformer/power supply.

Powers off by itself

Hello Sddyardman this problem is coming from the high voltage circuit either from the flyback transformer which can be faulty, the horizontal output transistor or the hv bleeder which can also cause this problem, this is not an expensive repair it is pretty common with projection tv sets after about 5 years or so what i recommend to have a tech come out and service your tv set since this has to do with the high voltage circuit thank you hope this helps.

POWER WILL NOT STAY ON. IT GOES OFF IMMEDIATELY WHEN TURNED ON

i dont think the v c r has anything to do with your problem the fact that it started turning off and back on indicates that there is a shut down problem starting in your tv ,,it turns off for safety reasons it was made to do just this when there is an over voltage problem with your high voltage section of your tv to keep from any fire starting ,this is its only safety ...so the turning off is indicating that it has a power problem ,i think it would be safe also to say that its not the remote either i think you need to cary tv to shop and have it checked by a rep man but if you know how to trouble shoot the problem i would look in the high voltage area for the problem like the voltage being too high an the annode lead ,,,,the red wire is verry high volts be careful,,,,,,, also some toshiba tv had problems in lv power supply from capaciators being leaky ,,,,,,,

Sound but NO picture

Hello ashleewith2e,

This sounds like a high voltage problem or a picture tube issue (burnt out filament). I would first determine if you had high voltage at the anode of the TV by using a high voltage probe. If you do not have high voltage then I would suspect the voltage doubler, the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer) or the Horizontal Output Transistor (I doubt this only because you don't have a power supply failure and I would expect this in a modern TV since the high voltage supply is tied to the low voltage supply), the more likely suspect is the voltage doubler. Second possibility I would check is the CRT socket board and CRT filament. Unplug the TV and with a multimeter set to read resistance check to see if the filament pins read a low resistance if so the filament is good. Plug the TV back in and turn it on and check the voltage on the CRT board and compare them to the schematic values. These two tests should localize the issue. Now, If you have a background in electronics, this should be no problem to do, however if you do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician troubleshoot and repair this TV set.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Won't Power On

as you have seen inside that no power & no light. problem seems to be in power supply. 1 check fuse. 2 check switching ckt. 3 check for loose contact or print break. 4 now if you get power on & still tv is not ok then check for hor. output transistor in hor. output stage. if you are not tech person please do not try to fix it as high voltage is there inside.

The power supply or sweep power supply blew up, or the Horizontal/high voltage circuit went bad. If you have no tV repair experience, call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
