On the front bezel of the drive, just underneath the disk drawer there's a small hole.

Straighten out a paper clip, and push it into the hole, that should release the drawer. Take out the disk and press the button, the draw should now work ok.

I have a sanyo dvd/vhs player and when you push the eject button to eject the dvd player it won't open. Help!

If you take off the top cover you might find that a drive belt that moves the tray is either off or broken. They are cheap to replace you just need to measure the diameter in MM and then enter "drive belt XXmm" into Google go for the nearest size to your measurement.

Dvd not working on my E-SYSTEM sorrento 1

A couple troubleshooting steps.
Power the laptop off and remove the battery. There will either be a single screw on the back of the laptop or a spring button next to the DVD tray. Push the button to pop out the DVD player or remove screw, stick a paper clip in the tiny hole next to the DVD eject button and pull the DVD drive out and then firmly push the drive back in to verify it isn't seated all the way. Now put the battery back in and power on the laptop. Enter BIOS and check through the menus and ensure the DVD drive is not disabled. If you have followed these steps. Refer to the next section.

If you answer yes to any of the following you will need to replace the drive.
  • When you press the button, the drive does not light up or open
  • When you put a disc in the drive it doesn't detect the disc.
  • The DVD drive doesn't show up in device manager or under "Computer/My Computer"

If in device manager you see a yellow ! or ? on the DVD drive you will need to restore the computer because the driver corrupted and typically you can't repair them.

My dvd player is stuck on one dvd and wont let me eject, change disc, or even stop the current dvd. display reads "locked" whenever i press any buttons. can only turn on and off the device.

Hi, For some reason the disk will not play. You push the eject button over and over again, but the disk slot will not open. Here's one solution...
* 1 Turn off the DVD player. Wait a few minutes, turn the DVD player back on, and
then press the "eject" button. If this does not work, turn it off and unplug
the DVD player...while you keep pushing EJECT button plug the DVD and turn it on (your hand still on the eject..) is should come out..
* 2 ..if it does not eject , unplug the DVD player again, Remove the screws off DVD on the sides and take off the DVD casing.
* 3 Look for the DVD holder inside the DVD player. This device holds the DVD in
place while the DVD player reads the disk.
* 4 Push the stuck DVD disk toward the front of the DVD player until the DVD
ejects. Remember the DVD player is not on and some force ( gentle ! ) must be applied.
* 5 While it is open, plug it on and place a DVD disc just to see if mechanism works properly..
* 6 Replace the casing and the screws. Plug the player in and turn it on. Put
another DVD in to test whether the player is finally working ..
Hope this helps!..
Take care and please

Cd stuck on cd drive in Dell

If the Cd drive is not ejecting, try going into My Computer, and right clicking the Drive and selecting "Eject". If that doesn't work, then take a paper clip (or any other piece of wire that small, which does not have a sharp end) and examine your CD/DVD drive. There should be a little paperclip sized hole, this is usually next to the Eject button. Slowly push the paperclip into the hole, until you feel that you have pressed something, and then remove it. The drive should eject. This should work regardless of whether the computer is on or off.

All the buttons work. the dvd will not eject manually. i can hear the eject motor turning

You can try to go to "my computer" and right click the dvd drive, then select "eject". If this does not work, reboot and try again. If this still does not work, there should be a small hole near the eject button.Use something like a straightened paper clip and gently push it in.You will feel a slight give, and with a little more push, the dvd tray will open. You should not have to insert it very far; don't push a long item in as you can damage the mechanism, as well as your DVD.

Cd/dvd drive doesn't work. Won't open with eject button, How can I determine if it is a driver or hardware problem?

Look at the drive there should be a tiny pin hole near the eject button, insert a needle (safety pin, sewing, etc.) into the pin hole and push this opens the drive.
You can also try opening my computer and right clicking the DVD drive and select eject. After you do this close the drive and try the button again it may just be stuck if it still won't eject you can try and pop off the front of the drive (very simple it locks back on easily) and find the place where the button connects to the drive to eject and push it, If it still won't open it is your hardware.

Disc Tray Will Not Eject

Just next to the eject button on the actual recorder there should be a tiny pinhole.  If you use a small paperclip and insert it, then push, you should be able to manually eject the DVD.  Hope this helps!
