SOURCE: I am attempting to install

Just did this. Will sound stupid, but here goes:
Get both raid and non-raid drivers for the M7700 from Alienware.
Go into your bios and change controller to SATA.
Boot to win 7 DVD, (either custom or update install) and hit R6 to load driver.
Load the M7700 non-raid driver from support page. I stored my drivers on an SD card so that I could brouse to them during uinstall.
Let it load until it says it cant find the HD.
Reboot and enter BIOS.
This time, set the controller to RAID adn save.
On reboot, use Win 7 DVD, select install mode and hit F6 to load a driver. Browse to the RAID driver for XP and select it. Win 7 should now see the HDD.

To me it seamed that the driver and bios setting had to be "twiddled" to another state then back to the one you wanted before WIN 7 could actually see the drive.

For me, all loaded well after this except for that **** modem being discovered 39 times. That issue is still there in Win7 and can still be traced thru MS Knowledgebase article # 888111. I will be ripping out that worthless 56K dial-up modem board this evening.

Wont turn on, no issue with power or battery, replaced Cmos, replaced most of the parts, keyboard seems to be the key, with intermittent results when pressed just so for a short period of time on the

The keyboard has no baring on whether or not the computer will turn on. Most likely culprits would be
  1. The Battery
  2. A/C Adapter
  3. The DC jack (cold solder joints)
  4. The motherboard itself is bad

I have an Acer Aspire One and when I plug the charger in I have to spin it or wiggle it or both to get the battery to charge. Once I have it in position it generally stays on charge, but if the cable is...

It could be either one Sarah.

The AC adapter's (Charger) cable, or the DC Power Jack where the AC adapter plugs into the laptop.

This is an example of the DC Power Jack not installed,

(You can click on the three views of the jack to enlarge)

1) Check the DC Power Jack to see if it's in good repair.

Battery removed use a small flat tipped screwdriver, and Gently see if you can move the Center Pin around in the jack.
See if the Center Pin will move side to side a small amount. There is supposed to be No perceptible movement.

Referring back to the closeup photos of the DC Power Jack, the flat blade-like prongs are upside down, in relation to how the jack sits on the motherboard.

The flat prongs go down through the motherboard, and are soldered to the motherboard.
If the center pin of the jack is stationary, but the jack as a unit moves around, one or more solder joints, (Connections) for the flat prongs may be cracked.

The repair consists of completely disassembling the laptop, removing the broken DC Power Jack, and installing a new one.

Acer Aspire One service manual,

(Click on the blue - One - in Aspire One.
This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it which uses PDF files.
After you click on the file name (One) it may take up to 30 seconds before you see the first page.
It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

(Took 12 seconds just now for full download)

No perceptible movement of the DC Power Jack? Suspect the cable of the AC adapter right near it's plug. (Plug that plugs into the DC Power Jack)

It is a 2005 machine and was designed for Vista so an upgrade from Vista to Win7 may work as the drivers will need updating as it loads one OS from the other OS.
A bios update would possibly help also.

The computer does not work I was told buy a tech person it would cast $500. to fix I said no way. what does it cost for a D900T motherboard. My computer is a look a like of Alienware computer laptop 17"...

Well he wasn't that far off.

Motherboard : $359
Labor: $160

Total = $519

Unfortunately, because laptop motherboards on fit in a very few select machines, their prices are much higher. And, since it is an Alienware, the price is higher still. In fact, the cheapest I found is what I quoted for you and it is a used one and I even discounted labor since replacing a laptop motherboard can take several hours, I only charged 2 hours max even though it is likely to take 3 - 4.
