Question about GE 31GT660 TV

1 Answer

Our TV shuts off out of no where. No surge. No reason. If we turn the electrical source off for a few minutes, we can plug it back in, and hit the ON/OFF button once or twice, and it will come back on. But it takes a few minutes to reset. This is maddening, and we just don't know what to do.

May be it is the t.v transformer. Check if it is all right. If not get it replaced. You can easily check if it is the transformer if the time between switching on and automatic turning off is getting reduced every time. Transformer is a small and cheap equipment readily available in the market. It may be damaged due to lightnings or voltage fluctuations. It is very simple to replace it. When you buy a new one go for the best one available in the market. Else the new one too can go out soon.

Can we do that ourselves? Must we bring it in for repairs?

You can do it yourself if your are good in electronics and love repairing. Just open the backside and remove it carefully. Its a lot simple. But if you think you can't do it all by yourself then try calling a repairman.

About the only thing you could try would be to reset both the dish receiver and the tv. Disconnect both from electrical power source, (unplug) after a minute or so, plug them back in and try again. if neither works then you may have had some type of power surge.
Be certain your tv is in the right source, however the tv has been connected to your receiver.

Sometimes when the TV recives a brodcast signal for a new update to the mainframes firmware, it will have to turn itself on to install/recive the update and aslong as it is connected to a power source it can do this. hope this helped answer your question. Have a good day :)

Sony KV-34HS420 shuts of and stand-by light blinks

  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

HP Pavilion MD5020N 50 in. HDTV DLP TV keeps shutting down

ok this is what you do folks.... un-plug the tv from the power supply. once that is done hold the power button down on the side of the television for 30 seconds. this will release all electricity out of the tv.... then before you plug it back in hold the channel down vol up button along with the power button at the side on the tv this should reset the tv and it will start up automatically on video one. Select your source and scan for your cable channels again. If the problem is not solved then contact someone to come and clean the filter for the tv because it may be clogged along with this it can be the color wheel and may shut itself off like 3 times until it feels it is right.

Pioneer Model SD-P4571 Problems?

It could be because of where you live.
Hi humidity, High temperatures where you live, etc.
Try placing a cooling source next to it, like a small portable air conditioner and even a fan.
Also, please try installing a GFCI outlet AND plug a surge protection outlet strip for all components and tv.
Any spike in your electric circuit, for example, a refrigerator starting, a furnace running etc. can cause the tv to turn off.

Yalmer
