Well, I did everything you said. Two washes with just bleach. I just put a load of colored clothes in, half the detergent...so we will see later!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You have not provided the model # or stated whether it is front or top load. Therefore, I am providing you both the solutions. Please check the edge of the door seal, see if there is a lot of "gunk" there, this would cause grey marks on laundry and make it dirty. If it is a front load washer then try these steps--

You'll have to do a few maintenance washes to clear it out of the tub. Try these steps to remove the dirt, debris and odor from the washer—

  1. Set your machine to 60 degree wash.
  2. Now add 1/2 a cup of Washing Soda or 4 cups of baking soda Crystals and run the machine with no clothes in it.
  3. Your drain will sparkle, and it will remove all the debris, lint & mold growth from the drain pump and drain filter. Also the mold from the door seal will be cleared
  4. Add 1 desert spoonful of Washing Soda to every wash... I sprinkle it along the crease in the door seal.
  5. Clean the fabric softener cup with a rag first, (bleach will not break up fabric softener as it is introduced in the rinse cycle with the fabric softener.
  6. Also check the drain hose, it should not be clogged.

This will clean your machine and get rid of the odor.

And, if it’s a top load washer then try these steps—

Remove the dispenser and spray with white vinegar. Then spray the agitator with it too. You can pretty much wipe it right out. Vinegar dissolves softener very quickly. The dispenser just wash out with warm water after the vinegar sits on it for a minute, and you hardly have to wipe at it at all. try adding bleach to the dispenser and clean it with a small brush. The dispenser will pull off from the agitator and you can run hot water in it from the sink. The agitator is not as easy but has a 1/2" bolt holding it to the shaft. Remove the bolt and pull up. But you can clean the whole washer with a cup of bleach and that will also clean the agitator. Now run a full tub of hot water and then add a cup of bleach with no soap. After the washer has filled up, then add another gallon of hot water and that will help to rinse out the residues that cause odors. then after that dont use too much soap and you wont have residue build up. Only use the smallest amount of soap that the cup has marked in it.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

All cycles work but clothes come out wet, top loader model# AAV7000AWW is there a lint trap that needs cleaning?

Lint traps are in dryers, not washers If clothes still come out wet then perhaps the water pump is not working properly and/or the drum is not spinning fast enough to allow centrifugal force to remove water from clothes.

Our Duet just doesn't clean very well anymore. There's soap residue in the clothes sometime, and the clothes don't always smell clean. Are there any filters to clean out? Is there a way to get it to use...

The drain is probably clogged and the dirty water is going back into the washer. This happened to us, and the clothes were getting grey and dirtier than when they were before being washed. Make sure the drain pipe drains well, check hoses and clean the machine.

Dirt in rinse cycle causes clean clothes to come out with dirt all over them and inside of the washing tub has dirt everywhere!

Several things could be happening...The machine is NOT "spitting" all the water out and there is STILL some dirty h2o (water) in the wash. You could be putting in dirty WELL water ? If you have HARD water and your "hard water filter, cleaner not working. Your cloths could be SOOOOOOOOO dirty ( no offence !!! because there are many D I R T Y jobs that could take two(2) washings ) that they are not getting clean.

My dryer makes my clothes stink

You NEED to have a professional vent company clean your dryer out! PLEASE don't run your dryer when you're alseep or not at home due to a fire hazard! It sounds like the dryer is full of lint that's buring and make sure you clean your lint filter EVERY time you dry a load for safety's sake and energy efficiency.

Spin cycle clothes washer

Plug off the mains. First drain out all your water by lowering the exit hose into a bucket or drain. You have to look for screws below the front kick-panel, the panel comes down & out. The pump is on the right side. Be prepared for dirty water. Inside the big flexible tube (coming from the tub bottom) is the filter, be prepared to find all sorts of junk here, clean out. Examine your pump also, clean out the impeller. Carefully refit all. Your machine would be fine. Don’t wait for the machine to jam to look into your filter.
