Hoover Sensory 2200W Overheating and Shut-Down

I have bought three hoover sensory 2200w cylinder vacuums in one go for various properties and all off them have suffered with premature overheating after no more than five minutes. It seems to me that the protection thermostat was faulty from manufacture and I wondered if it could be over-ridden easily? Assuming of course that it is the problem! Once fully cooled they give a further 3-5 m9inutes before shutting down again.

Yes I did! I scrapped the Hoovers and have gone all Numatic!!! There are British built in Somerset, never get problems (I have had two for over twenty years now - one wet and one for asbestos dust!), spare parts and bags are readily available. Only downside is that they are (or at least were) a bit bulky but they now have newer smaller models to choose from that are more ameniable to the domestic market and as such you can now buy them in lots of different places but my preferred outlet is Machine Mart that have stores in most places or of course you can buy online. I hope this helps in a way as vacuums have got so "crappy" and I just like things that really work and are a quality item. Oh, by the way, never go down the Dyson route - they are just built for people with more money that sense that just want to show off!!!

Happens to mine if the bag is full or the pipe is blocked. Does anyone know where I can get bags?

As I was vacuuming my vacuum cleaner stopped working

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Your Hoover Windtunnel may have stopped working for several reasons. First, make sure that your unit is properly plugged into an electrical outlet and make sure the electrical outlet is working correctly. Vacuum units, and other appliances, protect themselves from sudden electrical charges, ups and downs. Make sure the electrical fuse and breaker are on, if not reset breaker.

Some units may heat up and will automatically shut themselves down to prevent fires. Allow your unit to cool down for 30 minutes while the thermal protector is automatically reset. Overheating, may have been caused by a clogged hose, dirty filters, full bags or a roller brush that is not running properly. All these situations compromise the unit's air flow and make the unit work harder, making it to heat up.

To avoid these situations and to keep your unit running at it's maximum capacity, make sure to change filters regularly (recommended every 3-6 months), clean your brush roll from any tangled hair strands or debris monthly (roller brushes are recommended to be replaced at least yearly), and replace belts every 6 months.

You can purchase direct your replacement belts, bags, roller brush and filters from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

Motor shut off

Try it half an hour later, does it run? If so it's overheating. Change your filters and empty the cup.
If it does not run it's likely a problem with the cord rewind. Some of those units had a recall on the cord rewind. To find out for sure find a local hoover service center and take it in for repair many times at no cost.

Vac runs for about 15 mins. then stops

The unit is not getting the proper airflow and the motor is overheating to shut down.

You should check/clean out the filter in the dirt chamber there. If the filter is more than 1 year old, you should replace the filter.

Why doe my hoover mach3 stop during operation? I have to wait until the moter cools down. Then i turn on the switch normal way. Then a few minutes latter it stops again.

Your Hoover is stopping because it is overheating. This is a sure sign that there is a blockage somewhere. Find the blockage and clear it, and that should solve the problem.

Why does the hose have no suction?

Hi,
Sounds like your machine has a blockage in the vacuum system, and is cutting out from overheating. If you no longer have a manual, which will tell you about clearing blockages, you can download from the Hoover website.
Good luck!

Hoover Cyclonic Fusion Vacuum overheats and shuts off.

If it gets too hot it will shut down for about an hour...it does that to protect the motor. A lot of tools and work appliances seem to have that feature nowadays.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover Floormate H3000 Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum. You can down load the owner manual from the Hoover website www.hoover.com . It looks like the one of the holding or recovery tanks my not be in place, leaking, cracked or damaged, or the clear tube is leaking and needs replacing. I looked 2 the owner’s manual and it does not show the clear tube but the vacuum does come apart and just back track the clear tube and mark the screws when you disassemble the unit. Other wise , please call the factory or a local Hoover warranty station in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

U5180-910 vacuum shuts off on own

I had same problem. Turned out to be the filter that sits above the waste cannister. Remove the waste cannister. There is a little orange lever that releases the filter. It was caked with dirt not allowing any air flow causing the motor to overheat.

This foam filter gets dirty pretty fast.
