Someone sat on the remote control for my Yamaha rx v557 and I have no tv picture--do have sound. System is set up to Direct TV. I can change channels and hear everything fine, but can't get a TV picture It...

If it was the remote that changed the function then likely the mode has been changed. You probably need to have it changed back to the input you plugged your DirectTv into, such as video1 or component, or cable/sat. etc, etc...

Possible burnt out power supply on Yamaha RX-V557

Can you check the power transformer, voltage & resistance.
You may have to unsolder some components to test them...such as the rectifying diodes and the transformer.  I believe that the outputs from the power supply board are all DC voltages.  Is there all so a IC chip on the power supply board?  Does your insurance cover lightening damage?

Speaker protection fault on rx-v557

Hello, you must first tested with a voltmeter in DC entrance if you have a DC voltage on all the terminal outlet speaker, normally you must obtain 0Vdc+/-50mV on each out speaker with control volume to minimum, you can stay or remove the speakers during this test.
