My port won,t work

What port? Be more specific. But for now, make sure you have the port identified that you need working, go into your router if applicable and use the port forwarding option and assign it to the Playstation 3's local IP address. If you do not know your router's admin login details, ask who owns it and get the information from them. If they do not know, then you can look underneath the router and most of them list a default user and password incase you have not set one up yourself.

If that is not available, try an internet search for the defaut password for your router. And if you still cannot login, do a hard reset on the router. There is usually a tiny button you can press in with a pen or paperclip and hold it down for 10 - 15 seconds. Usually you will see all the lights flash at the same time, or they will strobe. You can then use the default user/password and login through your web browser as normal. Please reference the default ip of your router to get to it correctly. You will have to setup your wifi passwords again.

Doing the hard reset technique also will fully reset things just incase something froze. With many routers, you may experience a glitch or a partial crash. Usually the wireless stops working or the port settings no longer function and will need a reset.

Change password

Default Password

  • Username = admin
  • Password = password
    • For older devices, password = 1234
If you have changed the default password and have forgotten it, you will need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings in order to use the default username and password. Please note: restoring a device to its factory default settings will erase any changes you have saved to the device.

If you have changed the default password and have forgotten the password, you may need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings. When a NETGEAR device resets, it goes back to the state when it was new - all information that was entered by hand is lost! Examples include critical things you need to get online, such as ISP username, ISP password, IP addresses, wireless security keys, and ports and services that were opened. It all needs to be re-entered.
So, have your ISP information before resetting the router.Naturally, if you moved to a new city, or if you bought a used router, the old information in the router may not be of use to you. Contact your ISP if you can't connect any computer directly to the Internet. Then, if there is a connection problem when the router is added, see No Internet Access Through the Router Reset for most routers with a reset button on the rear panelWrite down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password. If the router configuration was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.
For DGN2000 / DG834Gv5 Routers
To restore the factory default configuration settings when you do not know the login password or IP address, press both the Wireless button and WPS button on the side of the modem router for 5 seconds.
For FR314, FR318, and FV318
These routers require reloading the firmware in order to recover from a lost password. Download the most recent firmware from NETGEAR's Web site before proceeding. Follow the instructions in the manual.
For routers with a 9-pin manager port on the rear panel: RT314, RT311, RM356, RT328, RT338, RH340, and RH348

How can i recover my password nor change it to new one

You will have to change it to a new one and to do this you will have to default your router back to factory defaults. To do this there is the hole that is marked reset next to your power connector. With the router on and by using a paper clip press and hold that button for about 12 seconds. After about two minutes the router will be at factory defaults. After the router is defaulted you will need to access your router by typing in http://192.168.0.1 login: admin and there will be no password. You will need to set your router back up and for your internet connection and open any ports on the router you need for gaming, security, etc...

Used router, so the wireless is already setup with a newtork password. is there a way to reset the network password or setup? the friend who gave me the router is no longer in the country, and so I cannot...

Hi,

Most LinkSys Routers do have a master reset. It is a small recessed button normally at the rear of the unit between one of the antennas and the WAN/Internet port. For a full reset, you need to press this for more than 10 seconds. Of course doing a full hard reset reverts the unit back to factory default.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
