the purpose of that tube so it anywater that comes out of it goes through it and directs the water down the back and away from the motor. Now the bigger issue is why is water coming through that tube.What i suspect the reason of that is that the transmission is defective and the break is that internal to the transmission is slipping so the inner tub turns during the wash cycle force water up the side of the tub into that tube.during the agitate cycle the tub is not suppose to move at all and stay locked into place,but instead its moving where the water is forced up by centrifical force too and out the top of the tub cover,if it leaks with only a small water load it will leak worse with a large water load. if this is what is happening and the tub is rotating on agaitate cycle teh fix for that is to replace transmission which in most cases cost as much as replacing the washer would be
This would most likely be the pressure switch. Make sure the hose did not get pinched or disconnected when you were working on it. There is a video on the pressure switch at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html.
This switch controls the water level.
Also check the water diverter that you didn't move that either. That is the plastic part where the water enters the tub.
it sounds like the water level pressure switch is either gone bad or the wires were placed on the wrong terminals of the pressure switch if its wired each terminal separately and not a modular plug,this unit uses air pressure through water level to sense water level you select in the tub,also make sure the plastic water tube from the tub to the switch is not kinked or it cant sense water level either

I am assuming this is a top load washing machine.... the load size selector button has a hose attached to the back of it. This hose goes down to an overflow box mounted to the side of the tub. This tube often gets clogged and the machine cannot tell where the water level is. 1) dissconnect the tube from the level selector switch and ( w/it unplugged ) attach another tube to it and blow into it. you should hear a clicking sound. this means your level selector switch is functioning properly. if it does not click then it needs to be replaced. 2) dissconnect the tube from the level selector switch and ( w/it unplugged ) blow into the tube and you should hear air going into the tub, ( this is best performed with water in the tub ( bubbles ) )....hope this helps

We've now had this happen three times and the exact same thing caused it all three times.
If the water level selector knob hasn't "clicked" into one of the given load levels on the control panel(i.e. the knob is in between levels) it will continue to fill until you discover water everywhere and turn the knob until it "clicks" into a level.
As far as I know, it has nothing to do with loose hoses or bad switches, it's bad design. There seems to be no safety mechanism to turn off the water if you over- or under-shoot the desired water level.
The water sound is normal. There is a solution in the top of inner tub for balance. Is it overflowing...as in not stopping the fill cycle? If so check to make sure small hose is still attached to outer tu at bottom left front. This dome that it connects to can become filled with scum and causes the unit to not know that it's full. This causes flooding. You can try removing hose and cleaning out with thin wire. Sometime only fix is to replace outer tub. Again, this is only if overflowing!! Another possibility is a bad break allowing outer tub to spin in agitation. This throws water up over sides of tub. Monitor unit when agitating to see if outer tub picks up speed and starts to spin. It is normal for it to index.
Almost, I hope you put the tube back on. This goes on the pressure switch and the pressure switch determines when the tub is full according to the load size. I don't know what post you read, there's been so many. You have a couple of things to check here. First, make sure the hose going from the pressure switch to the tub is clear. Blow through it. If it's clear it's possible you have a faulty pressure switch. If that tube is not secure on the switch and the tub you will overflow. If the pressure switch is faulty, you can overflow too. tub, is the lid switch plugged in? If not take a jumper wire and jump out the two ends on the harness. Timer controls recirculation and spin. The motor turns both ways. The spin cycle goes through the lid switch. Catriver..post back
