Question about IBM Netfinity 5500 M20 4RY (86624RY) Server
Running on an ancient ibm Netfinity 5500 - Type 8660-7SU - bios v. 13. At bootup I receive a message about a problem with dimm in J1/slot6 ( as I recall ) and then the boot process stalls at a prompt for the setup password. The known password and all historic passwords do not work. Could this password have gotten reset in the same incident that fried the dimm? Is it possible to reset this password via jumpers or other method?

Turn the computer off.
Remove the RAM from that J1/Slot6 slot.
Reconnect the power and start it.
Do you still get the "problem" message?
