Question about Cameras

My kodak easyshare MD853 digital 8.2 camera has some problems.. When I turn it on it says: lens error message 122,1,0,0 and the zoom will not retract back into the turn off position.. I called Kodak & it's still under warranty however they say if it's something that not under warranty they will charge me anyway... I bought insurance through Target as well & they referred me to kodak. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my camera?

Try removing the battery and memory card for at least 15 minutes. With some cameras, this will reset the camera and lens may clear the error message, as long as there is something that is not physically damaged the camera.

This error means the lens is not properly retracting or coming out..Firmly hit the lens on the palm of your hand and as it starts to retract give some gentle assistance. Turn off the camera and then back on and hey presto no error message displayed and the camera will work

LENS DOES NOT RETRACT NOT TAKING PICS

Try to hit the side very gently while switching ON the camera. Do this several times, It should reset the timing of lens.A little bit of more pressure can be applied while it is hitted. If does not reset, then the timing lens gear is damaged. Take it to qualified service technician to get full service. Thanks.

Try helping the camera to retract using your fingers while you turn camera off, try also helping lens to full extent if they don't.if you do not succeed in this simple way the camera lens must be taken apart and reassembled at a repair shop.
