No power tried removing battery and just plugging it in. No luck.

If you do not see any light on the power adapter even after checking with a good known wall socket.The it is probably the dapter that has gone bad , if you are still in warrenty then ask the HP for a new adapter or otherwise buy a new one
However you can also try to do a flee power that some times helps a lot. To do this remove the battery and disconnect the power adapter and then press and hold on to the power button of the laptop ( this is the button that you press in order to switch on the laptop ) for 20 to 30 seconds , then reconnect the adapter and try switching on the laptop.
