I think what you need to do is reinstall your sound cards driver. or reinstall windows system.sometime reinstall system is more easyer than install soundcard driver.
Try to uninstall and reinstall the driver back maybe the file just got corrupted, how?
Here' what you need to do: - Go to device manager - if your sound card driver is not working then you will see an icon with a yellow exclamation mark this is your sound driver. - remove it then reinstalled it back by just refreshing the device manager - this will automatically install the driver back and this should resolved the problem
If not, then you can try to restore your computer back to previous date where your sound driver works, just think of that date and use System Restore
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this right click to install driver also click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? i think you need to reinstall the sound driver and check whether it appears in the CONTROL PANEL->SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES. When you click the sound and audio device, your sound driver name should appear. If problem persists then it might be hardware problem.
