Question about Canon MV600i Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

Canon mv600i cassette compartment stuck

I cannotinsert a tape into the tape comparment. It is currently empty. I open the plastic pannel and the mechanism starts to move the tape deck to the loading position. But the tape deck never opens and then just goes back inside. Is there a solution to this? Regards Chris

SOURCE: Cannon ZR 60 camcoder Cassette copartment does not open

Loading unit problem is a common mechanical problem in camcorders. To remedy the problem, trained tech need to disassemble the mechanical system around the loading and replace few broken gears (plastics) and adjust it. Repair cost may run close to half of the new camcorder. If you really got to repair this camera for some sentimental reason or for special needs otherwise better to invest the repair charge into a new camcorder.

SOURCE: Canon ZR100 cassette compartment won't open

ok so my tape inside broke and i spent some time tinkering around with it.

step 1: take the extremely small screw out from the top. VERY SMAL!!! hehe

step 2: with some strength behind it, try to slide the cover that the screw held on off the top and thatlets the cassette tray come out...

now when i put a new cassette in, it will close, but will eject it after it thinks if it will accept the tape or not... i think its just being retarded... tried the tapping thing - didnt work... im thinking of dropping it out the second floor and trying afterwards...

SOURCE: Cassate tape will not eject from my Canon ZR85 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

I found a temporary solution for this problem. When the tray with the cassette tape comes out remove the battery so that the tray will not go inside again. Now on top of the tray it will be written as "PRESS" just adjucent to it you can see a spring connected to the tray just press the string down wards and the tray opens and you can replace the battery. Hope this can help.

SOURCE: Cassette won't eject!

I have had this problem too. I got it to open by pressing my hand against the tape mechanism then slightly closing the lid and re-opening it. This doesn't always work the first time.Once it is open run a tape head cleaner and it should fix it for a while.

I have a Canon camcorder MV600i. The problem is that although the cassette compartment pops up, it does not open, so I cannot retreive my cassette.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair the tape mechanism and can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Cassette deck will not open

It could be three things: 1) This can occur for when the image reading head of the camera is dirty and dusty, and the rubber rollers that drive the tape get contaminated as well. Either can result in the tape itself becoming caught on a rubber roller, (it wraps around the roller 10 or so times because the roller is driven by a motor) until the tape rolls expand the rollers outer diameter until it jams, and then jams the opening lever, or mechanism.
Fixing is difficult, as access to the (usually 2) screws that connect the cassette holder to the opening mechanism may only be accessible when the door is open. Look under stickers or plugs on the front of the door, and if the screws are there, carefully remove the door and unwind the jammed tape. Your cassette will play again after you clean the rollers and heads with a suitable cleaning kit from the supplier, but there will be image damage when the crumpled part of the tape gets played.
Be aware that forcing the door will usually snap the tape
which would then require re-splicing back together, and
it can also damage the heads and roller, but sometimes sacrificing the tape and taking this risk may be the only option.
Possibility 2) The internal 'door release clip' may have bent, broken or snapped a spring. Try toggling the 'open' button (if it is a mechanical buttonl) whilst gently prising open the cassette door with a thin knife. 3) If all buttons are electronic press buttons, try fresh batteries.
Failing all the above, consider a full service from your service depot or store.

It does not eject the tape,it gives out error c3211

Reel of the cassette must be stuck inside. open the top cover and have a look inside. release the reel if it is tangled up inside. Reset the switch at the bottom of the frot pannel and try to eject the cassette. It will slove your problem. If it is not then you must consult the nearby sony service centre.

Loading tapes

I have the same problem. If I remove the battery for a few seconds, then replace the battery and wait about 5 seconds, the tape compartment closes.

Can not eject tape

I had same problem, while transferring media from TRV-16 to DVD, tape would not play, then would not eject. This after transferring several tapes to DVD. I tried several things over the last couple months that did not work before finally getting it open today. It did me no good to remove several of the outer panels that were each held by two "tiny" phillips head screws each. Went to the internet, found your post, also found a post that referred me back to SONY page which follows.......

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.
IMPORTANT: If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery from the camera.
  3. Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
  4. Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR , VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
  5. Slide the power switch back to the OFF position.
  6. Connect the AC power supply to the camera.
  7. Attempt to open the cassette compartment.
"NOTE: If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required."

After I did this, I could hear a whirring sound when I hit eject, although nothing came out. While the whirring was going on, I pulled up and out with constant pressure and the cassette holder opened. The tape had jammed apparently as the little protective plastic tape guard was jammed partially open when I pulled the cassette out. Good Luck and don't be afraid to put a little pressure on the door if you can hear the door trying to open.

Now I turn to recovering the tape, but having grown up with cassette decks, don't believe it will be a problem.

Usually a chime happens when you open the plastic cover just before it opens. If you plug it into the electrical outlet does it eject that way?

Cassette Jam

The most frequent cause of this type situation is not having a power source attached, or a depleted battery pack. Once the power source is available, some models require manually unlatching and opening the cassette compartment cover. When the cover is fully open, the videocassette will eject automatically. Please try the following procedures. 1. Attach the power source to the camcorder correctly or use a fully-charged battery pack. 2. Fully-open the cassette compartment cover until it stops while sliding and holding the OPEN/EJECT switch. The videocassette will eject automatically after a few seconds. If the videocassette still will not eject, seek assistance from a Canon Service Facility.
