To upgrade your going to have to take the laptop apart and remove the heatsink on top of the cpu, then disconnect the cpu, and then install another cpu in place of it, apply therman greeze and put the cpu heatsink back on. and reassemble your laptop.

You can upgrade processor?

Maybe you can upgrade the processor. For example, the U50Vg laptops come with one of the Core 2 Duo T9550/T9400/P8700/P8600/P7350/T6600/T6500/T6400/T5900/T5850 (2.66 GHz - 2.16 GHz) or the Pentium M T4200 (2.0 GHz) CPUs. The motherboard might support one of the other chips in the above list. (Probably not all - I know that some motherboards only accept a small number of closely related CPUs even with the same socket design.)

So the upgrade options would depend on which ASUS motherboard is actually in your computer. If you know the motherboard model number, add a comment and I'll check which CPUs it supports. However, to access the motherboard, you need to disassemble the entire computer (including removing several small ribbon cables from the keyboard, touch pad and display). The effort may not be worth the performance difference.

I hope this helps.

I want to upgrade my CPU capacity from 1.2 GHZ and want to know my motherboard so much support??? my motherboard is GA-8IDX (845 chipset)

If you go to CPU-Upgrade.com, you can see all of the different processors that are compatible with your motherboard:

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-8IDX.html

The ones highlighted in pink are not supported for your motherboard, the ones highlighted in orange may or may not be, and all the ones in white are compatible with your motherboard. It looks like you have several high-end options, up to 2.8 GHz.

Hi, you can not upgrade without changing your motherboard, which would mean changing your memory (RAM) After this you would need to re install your operating system. Sorry this would not be an easy upgrade.

Is it possible to upgrade my processor from 1.6 ghz to 3.0ghz on a EliteGroup K8M800-M2 Motherboard?

Because there are so many variances, you have to do a few things here.
First, if it was me, I would do a search to see if this board can be upgraded by upgrading the bios.
Your user manual should be able to tell you what you can upgrade to as well.
If the bios can be upgraded to support the CPU you are wanting, then you have to go through a few steps to get to where you want to go. If you upgrade to the 3.0ghz, it may be necessary to change the memory as well. All of this information will be at the website under support.

I have an intel celeron 1.79 GHZ on my dimension 2350,what is the better processor for upgrade? and is there something else that i should change inside for the new processor?

you said that you want to upgrade ur 1.79ghz celeron cpu.

to upgrade a cpu just check that the packaging of the new cpu matches with the motherboard.
and also check that the motherboard supports the new cpu that you are installing. check this in the manufactures site.

Processor upgrade

Here is a link to the manual for the motherboard.
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock423/850/
p4t-m/p4tm-100.pdf

The manual doesn't really say what cpu speeds the board supports.
1.4 ghz was about the fastest processor speed when the board came out. My guess is that a 2.0 ghz cpu may not work.
It would be a slight improvement over the 1.4 ghz cpu, but not a huge difference.

Memory upgrade

you can use any DDR 180pin. But having two RAM of different speeds may not be compatible sometimes, so upgrade it to 1Gb by just using (1) 1Gb pc3200.
