Yes, try ripping the cd or dvd by placing in tray........open itunes and rip the track (s) you want...(itunes will convert the mp3 to mp4)....once all your track you want are done.......take the music file from the top of left hand side (make sure ipod is connected for this) and click hold and drag down to the ipod music folder (this will take a while depending on large the folder is) once you are finish never ever just unplug it you will lose your files EJECT from itunes............

Only thing I can think of is to start over, and hope there is no problem.
Then you will know if you screwed up, and don't know how, or if the thing is messed up.

Try a different method of loading tunes onto it.

try everything

My problem is when I create an album a lot of the songs are coming up as unknown. So instead of the album name coming up, all the songs for the albums go straight into the unknown folder on my i-pod.

Usually when an audio file shows as "unknown" in iTunes it is due to missing or corrupted ID3 tag data in the file. You can edit these manually by going into the properties of the file in iTunes but it is usually much easier to have an application do it for you. These applications are rarely free but they are great time savers.

My favorite to use is Tune Up. It has a great drag and drop interface and has a really good success rate when it comes to finding your songs and downloading the correct tag information. You can find it here : www.tuneupmedia.com

Mediamonkey is another good one:

I hope this helps.

You really should NOT try the "drag and drop" from a DVD - it'll end up making symbolic links ("aliases") to each of the files rather than copying them into the iTunes library. If you click on them in iTunes on your computer WHILE the DVD is mounted they'll probably play, since it can "find" the original files. But your iPod can't "play" them from your DVD, can it? So either COPY all the MP3 files onto your hard drive from the DVD and THEN drag them onto the iTunes "Music" library icon or, instead, in the File menu, select "Add to Library" and select them from there. Oh, and first delete all those dead links with the little grey "x" or question mark by the name in your iTunes music main window to make it easier to tell the new "good" ones you add afterwards (do this with DVD removed).

Will my itunes music library play on my Garmin nuvi 760? I dragged and downloaded my itunes music library onto my nuvi 760. When I hooked it up this morning to use it in my car it kept saying it was...

Your Garmin only supports MP3 files and iTunes is all MP4. The Best way to convert them is with "Real Player sp" Which is probably on your computer already or downlaod it for free. Open the music library and right click on the centre. There you will see "Converter" Select convert to MP3. Don't open iTunes. Instead go through; Start, my music, iTunes, library. This way you can drag a whole album into the converter. Plug your Garmin in with the USB cable and go through; Start, my computer, storage device H. At the bottom of the converter you can select where to send the converted files. Select the device H. Now press start and let it do it's thing. When it's finished you can see the old files in MP4 format with the new files in MP3 format listed under. Drag and drop is only a copy. You can delete all these files after to keep it tidy. All the original stuff is still safe and you Garmin should now have music on it. Try it with a small tune first to test. Best of luck. Regards Chris4fingers

Change your USB mode to Auto in the Settings menu of your Sansa player, and see if the folder will reappear. Here is a link to your user's manual if you need help seeing what I am talking about:

E260 uploading audio books from the library

Oh my ! , I like your style , I consider you a true thinker.

1. break the albums down into smaller chunks as individual files
2. make sure that when you've ripped the files off the CDs that you rip them as MP3 files
3. make sure that you check each file with an encoder checker such as encspotbasic 2.0 before loading them to the E260

Do these things weed hopper and all will be well with you.

Shalom :-)

Music won't show under "Music" in main menu

Dear iriver users,

When I frist drag and dropped pictures onto iriver, nothing showed up. With more playing around, I discovered, frustratingly!..that I can download pictures onto WMP and sync it with my iriver that way. That is the only solution I have found, even though it seems possible with the drag n'drop!

good luck!

I can't delete Some files

I've had this happen too--you gotta be in MTP mode to really take advantage of the true ease-of-use of this little gem. The solution here is to physically delete the file from the player on your desktop. If you can't delete the file there then you might have to reset the factory settings (eek). Also, if an mp3 track doesn't have a title (or a filename), it will show up as "Unknown" on the player and it will not play. You have to physically give the file a name by dragging it to your PC desktop, naming it ("properties") and then copying it back. It forces you to keep a clean music library for sure! FYI: Trying to do stuff in MTC mode I've found to be a real pain (and, no, you DON'T have to be use MediaPlayer to transfer mp3 songs, albums, and playlists--drag-and-drop works in both modes). Use MTP mode for the real experience.
