Question about Iomega Zip 100MB (31714) External ZIP Drive

1 Answer

My zip drive does not have an assigned drive letter although it did before. I need the drivers for my zip drive, model Z100P2. I can't find the installation diskette and Iwant to see if re-installing the drivers will solve the problem.

Right click my computer and go to manage. Go to disk management. Does your drive show up there? If so, right click to assign it a letter.

Disk will not eject

Unplug the drive. insert a paperclip in the hole in the back of the drive. This will manually eject the disk. You can also open the cover but that's a lot more work than you need to go through when a simple paperclip will move the manual eject lever.

Plug it into my computer and although it says its connected, my computer doesnt see it.

Ok, if the computer makes a sound, without notifying you that the device is not recognized, here is something you can try.

Go to:
Control Panel
Administrative tools
Computer Management
Disc Management

Now you should see your Mp3 drive in the schematic below, right click on it and choose to assign new drive letter and paths. If there is no drive letter assigned to the drive, assign on, otherwise just choose the option to change the drive letter.

Hope this can help you.

Kind regards

In invista what is the purpose of the d drive and the e drive

Each drive on your machine is assigned a letter.
Floppy drives if you have them are A: and B:
The System drive is typically C: but does not have to be
If you have a CD drive it will be assigned a letter as well say D:
If you have a USB flash disc attached it too will have been assigned a letter such as E:

However, you hard drive may have been partitioned that is split into smaller sizes. So although you have one drive you may have more than 1 letter assigned to it.

If you are on windows click on the Start button, Righ click on My Computer or Computer (depends on your version of Windows) and select manage
Select Disk Management
(wait until the page changes)
It will tell you what each letter represents

True for Vista and later - Can't remember if it works on XP - I think it does
