The best place to store a battery is in the back of your refrigerator, but you don't want to do that.Your battery will hibernate in the cold, but will age in the warmth. Your car battery is outside all winter and it does not freeze. I put my batteries in a tray, fully charge them and leave them in the garage, topping them up one or twice during the winter and once before installation in the spring. If a battery freezes I would have had to replace it anyway it would not have been good for the season anyway. Put your battery on a different charger and have your battery load tested at a shop. You either have a defective battery, or a defective battery tender, or both. At any rate warm storage for batteries is bad, cool or cold is better for longevity.

Springer classic clicks when trying to start

Make sure the battery is fully charged. Contrary to what some people will tell you, Harley batteries are not fully charged when shipped to dealerships. I work at a dealership and it normally takes a full 8 hour shift to charge a new battery that fits your bike. The clicking sound in normally caused by a low battery. Good luck!

Why doesn't my 02 Honda cbr keep charge.

You could load test the battery ,to see if its good ,if it is good or new,it may be your stator,or charging system. You could check the voltage of the battery while its running to see if its charging. I found ,they dont like not being started,or sitting for awhile. Ive installed a battery tender ,that keeps my battery fully charged even if you let the bike sit for extended periods of time. Its a very low amp charging system ,then turns itself on and off,to keep your battery fully charged. Sometimes there called Float chargers too.

Xvs 650 drag star has been sitting in garage over winter, battery appears fine but starter just gives off a series of clicks and no attempt to turn over the engine. What has gone wrong?

test the battery if its bad charging it will not help.next clean all the power cables at both ends, especialy from start relay to battery. if the battery is sure enough good the start relay may need to be replaced.

No start. new plugs new fuel new battery

- after some time sitting and not started the engine, the fuel in the carburetors are empty...
- you need to crank the engine many times to fill the carburetors again up.
if that does not help you might use a starter spray applied to the air intake with air filter removed under the seat while cranking the engine which you can buy in any carshop.
I have to do that every spring after the winter of no use.
with a good battery it will help almost ever...

1982 YAMAHA SECA 750 It does not want start unless there is a battery charger hooked up to the battery its like it needs high voltage to start once running it will restart if not parked to long

It sounds like a battery problem. Do you have a meter to check the voltage of the battery? If not, bring it to a parts store, most offer free checks or auto batteries, I'm sure they will test yours, as they usually also sell bike batteries.

Sitting all winter with battery tender, battery tested good, all I GET IS A CLICK WHEN TRYING TO START

Battery tenders are good but they aren't built by wizards. They'll extend the life of a battery but they cannot make them last forever. Remove your battery and take it to an automotive parts house. They'll usually test your battery free.
