My hp pavilion zd8000 laptop with XP installed will not allow me to load a golf game from a CD Rom I purchased some 14 years ago. I used to have this installed a nd played regularly on a previous computer.

The game may be not supported with the current Operating System Perhaps!!! What was your old computer's Operating system? And since the CD-ROM is 14 years old does it has too many scratch?? These days computer CD/DVD drives will never read the disc if they are scratched...

Finally, when you try installing the game, do you encounter any error message? if yes please post it....always remember if your posting your problem in forum, make sure that you provide all information about the issue.

How can I install my hard drive without the cd?

HI jamarrfinney

If you only want to install on your hard drive as backup, cd is not needed. just set the hard disk jumper to slave for IDE hard disk. If you are using SATA hard disk, no need to set jumpers, just insert the cable and then set the bios setup hard disk as a second hard drive (if necessary)

Hi there 2007 staff! I need HELP! I inherited a computer without much info. to go with it...I have 2007 Microsoft Office software on an HP and I use WordPerfect. I am a writer and I am having the hardest...

Hi,

Personally i wouldn't save your text files to CD/DVD unless you catalogue them properly. they can also take up quite a lot of space.

A CD will hold up to 700MB of data to it. A DVD will hold up to 4.5GB which is a hell of a lot of information especially if you just save text documents.

You can use Windows Media center to burn a data CD/DVD which is probably the easiest way to burn a data disk.

Alternatively you could get an external hard drive to save your file to. This would save plenty of money when it comes to writable media like CD's and DVD's and would also cut out the problem of burning a disk.

The plus side to an external hard drive is that none of the data is stored on the computer hard drive itself and it is usable on other computers in case you don't have access to your own computer.

Regards.

You will need to get replacement CDs from HP for that machine Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP

you could go out and buy a Windows CD (look on the bottom of the PC should see a label with which windows version came with the PC) OR
if you can borrow a copy of that EXACT windows version CD, and use the Product Key written on your label you can install that way.
If you BUY or Borrow - then you will also need the drivers for the hardware on that PC is available from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1137817&lc=en&cc=fr&dlc=fr

Factory restore with zd8000

If you press F11 and you have the restore partition on the hard drive, you don't need the disks. All the information that was there from the factory will be on the partition.

ZD8000 wont boot up.

Well, since the check disc failed, you will need to start by replacing the hard drive. The hard drive failure has created something different in it's behavior, the machine perceives this difference as something new, therefore causing the newly connected hardware error. Once you've replaced the drive, at start up, where you see the prompt to press F10 to go to set up, there will be another prompt there telling you what to press to go to the boot menu. If you can't get to the boot menu, then you will need to change the boot order in the set up so that it boots from the CD before the hard drive.
