Question about Motherboards

1 Answer

New computer won't POST

I recently bought the following components to build a new computer:

Case: Antec P182
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
PSU: Corsair 520HX
CPU: Intel E6850
GPU: EVGA 8800GTS 512MB (G92)
Hard Drive: WD Raptor X 150GB
Ram: Corsair 4GB PC2-6400 C4
OS: Windows Vista Premium OEM 66I-00715

Iassembled everything and upon power up, I encountered an earblasting continuous beep. After inspecting the card ,I realized I hadn't connectedpower to the video card (doh!)

With power to the video card, the screeching beep wentaway and all the fans run (the 3 internal case fans, the CPU fan andthe graphics card fan), the DVD drive works and I can hear the harddrive spinning, BUT... no startup "beep" and no post/bios. I triedreseating the RAM in different combinations as well as reseating the video card but still nothing.

I hired a specialist to diagnose my computer but he's had it for a week and I suspect he doesn't know how to fix it. He originally said the motherboard was shorted and after replacing it, he now says that the short has caused irreparable damage to other components (which doesn't sound right).

I want a second opinion so I was hoping to get a recommendation from y'all on a reputable computer repair store around Palo Alto/Peninsula Bay Area.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Have you tried different memory as no matter what the board says they don't like some memory .
also take the board out of the case and connect pwr supply.
cpu and fan ,video card , and 1 memory stick

no cables ,keyboard ,mouse or drives connected.
this is called bread boarding.
reset the bios jumper, then put jumper back.
and power up.

Hi, i want vga driver for GA-81845GV mother board

Hi, you can find the driver here:

http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx

Try searcing for the right mainboard number.
The number is printed in on the mainboard near the pci slots.
If your mainboard has an external card you have to search for that.

Try even to run windows update.

Hope this was helpfull.

No power to GA-EP43-DS3L motherboard

When connecting your psu and its atx connector to the mainboard, have you connected the +4 connector ? If your psu does not have this extra +4 connector, you may need to buy one.

Also check you have connected the cpu power (12v 4 pin plug)

see your cpu fan connector, weather it is connected properly. to check wether psu is working properly, short the black n green wires present in the psu's mother board connetor by using a single strand wire, and switch on. if the fan rotates there is no probs with the the psu. then u will have to replace the motherboard

If they are not a matched pair it will not work. If you have two sets of matched pairs. Each pair will have to go into the right pairing slot. Example one set you go in slots 0 and 2 and the other in slots 1 and 3. If you have stickers on the memory sticks look for a group of numbers and letters one group will match it's mate.

GA-EP35C-DS3R random reboots

Hi Buzznode,

First things first - once you have all the components properly seated (sometimes if a RAM chip or CPU heatsink/fan isn't quite right it'll cause those problems) clear the CMOS entirely. There should be a jumper somewhere near the CMOS battery - move it from the 1-2 seating to the 2-3 (with the system powered down) and count to ten. Move it back over and then try booting up again. If the problem continues, swap the memory chips. Otherwise repost once you've tried the recommendation.
