Active X access download on IE 7.0

I have be trying to download the Active X Controls to udate my drivers off Navidia's download wesite, but IE will not allow me to access the Active X dowload. I have even taken off the disableers in IE's Security restrictiohns. This has never happen before with any other download. How do I get past this problem. Oh, I can't use Firefox either, because this particular link will only work with IE.

Sorry it did not work. This has only happened to me since I downloaded Vista SP1. In addition, the Back up in Vista will now not even identify my other hard drive, previously IDed, but does show up on My Computer - fully accessable from there.

    But thanks for trying! :o)

I just may have to reinstall the whole think from scratch.

Registry errors

You may have encountered the following message while browsing certain websites:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://<website>.com. Operation aborted."

This really has nothing to do with your browser or your computer. You get this error because of faulty web coding from the webmaster's end.

IE displays this error when it is unable to open a particular element on a web page.

There are many things you can do to troubleshoot this kind of problem.

Upgrade Internet Explorer.

This problem does not occur in Internet Explorer 8. Navigate to Microsoft download Center and click on the "Download" button to upgrade to IE8 or IE9 (see Below).

IE 8

IE 9

Click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options." Hit the "Advanced" tab.

Click to remove the check mark next to "Show friendly HTTP error messages" under "Browsing" sub-headings.

Click on "Apply" and hit "OK." Please note this works mostly for Internet Explorer 6, although there is no harm in trying this on older or newer versions.

Add the specific website that is producing "Operation aborted" error under "Restricted Sites."

Click on the "Security" tab under "Internet Options."

Single-click to highlight "Restricted Sites."

Hit on the "Sites" button and click on "Add."

Type the URL of the website and hit "OK."

This works for Internet Explorer 7, but again, you can try this in earlier versions.

Disable or require prompt for "Active Scripting" when you view the specific website.

Click on the "Security" tab.

Click to highlight 'Restricted Sites" zone.

Navigate down to the sub-heading "Scripting."

Click to select "Disabled" under "Active Scripting."

You may also choose "Prompt" if you want IE to issue a prompt when opening the specific web page or website.

If you are still worried about the registry or need to fix any problems with it

You can run a free registry scan using utilities from

Hope this helps.

I reinstalled windows xp on dell inspiron 6000 i caanot get updates etc because ie will flash on then off. i cannot install the drivers needed for the laptop can you help me please

If it is a fresh install of XP then the browser is an older version. Download and install the newest version of IE and try the updates again.

You can also get most of the drivers from the dell site, just look for the service tag on the bottom and enter it into the site to gain access to the drivers.

I have a 64 bit HP pavilion with vista home premium. When the latest automatic update occured, it shut down Internet Explorer. In order to access the web I did a system recovery and shut off the automatic...

Remove the update the caused the problem in add remove programs, then update manually, or turn off auto update. You can also install and use firefox instead of IE or try doing a repair to IE. Usually IE updates to version 8 and it has problems - version 7 works fine. Uninstalling 8 changes it back to 7. Version 8 will not download properly on a lot of sites - they changed it so U have to use Windows explorer instead to download from FTP sites, and it will not connect to some sites due to all of the security they installed. You could try using default settings on security and turn off filters to see if that works. When windows updates IE it automatically changes to high security.

Hi rnb brother,

It sounds like you may need to udate you BIOS. It may be a memory allocation issue. This is an issue when the accessed/pointed memory allocation does not totally close, allowing a little bit of info out to disrupt normal operation. BIOS is closely related to access/pointed memory allocation and upon udating will close this path competely. I hope this helped a little, if not, hit me back, we have other options i.e. running dual cards.

Thank you for using

Since installing a windows update i cannot access the internet

Have you check all settings ounder tools/internet options under all tabs. some settings may be too high, preventing access. Also check your virus/security system for the same problem under internet settings. Also go back to where you downloaded the udate and make sure you downloaded the right one.
