Microsoft driver cannot load missing driver

Cannot load, missing driver, where did it go? Was it in the programme InCd? Anyway no use of the cd. drive now, really stuck, downloaded the system file driver, but windows won't open it, so can't install it! It is a microsoft driver version 5.1.2535.0 HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H22N.
looked on their website, no joy, need to download and install a driver to run my cd. drive, I did a reinstall awhile ago, must have installed the Incd driver by mistake, deleted it, can't seem to recover it now.

Hi,

With the indulgence of reggieguia,

Drivers for a standard CD ROM is built-in to Windows since 3.1. There are no external drivers required. If for some reason, another software overwrote the required drivers (like your InCD?), you can try restoring your CD/DVD back in your Registry.

Go to Start / Run / Regedit
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

What is NTLDR is missing

It means that the file NTLDR is not there or corrupted. Here's how to correct it.
1. Load Windows XP CD into CD drive.
2. Make sure BIOS is set to boot to CD drive.
3. Boot the computer from CD.
4. At menu, press "R" to load Recovery Console.
5. Select the installation to be fixed.
*The following instructions assume CD-ROM is labeled as drive D and the hard drive partition the windows installation is on is labeled as drive C. Replace the letters accordingly.
6. Type "COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\" and press ENTER.
7. Type "COPY D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\" and press ENTER.
8. Remove CD and type "EXIT" and press ENTER (to reboot your computer).

If you have formated your CD/CDRW into the Nero "INCD" format, you have to install the Nero INCD software to another PC so as to read & copy the contents on your formated CD.

Hope it helps.

NTLDR MSSING, how can i solve this?

NTLDR is short for NT loader – a program loaded from the hard drive boot sector that displays the Microsoft Windows NT startup menu and helps Microsoft Windows NT load. So when it goes missing for some reason, your windows cannot load.
Cause:
1. Computer is booting from a non-bootable source.
2. Computer hard disk drive is not properly setup in BIOS.
3. Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.
4. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file.
5. Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32.
6. New hard disk drive being added.
7. Corrupt boot sector / master boot record.
8. Seriously corrupted version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
9. Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable.
if there is attached drive ,remove the drive first before restarting the system if not then if you had access to another computer, copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM which is available from the recovery CD which comes with computer. If you do not have the recovery CD, its available on microsoft site or is available from another computer using the same Operating System (Windows XP ). The location may be C:\i386\ntldr C:\i386\ntdetect.com use a bootable disc to restart the computer (the Win XP bootable CD or Win 98 bootable CD worked). After entering MS DOS mode, copy these 2 files to the C drive in the proper location. After restart, then pressing F10 on start up (used for system recovery ), then start the repair of Windows via system recovery This will reinstalled all Windows drivers and system files, while preserving all data on your computer.

Blue Screen of death with Re-writable CD`s and DVD`s.

First I would go to the Control Panel > System > Hardware > device manager. There go to cd-dvd drives and right click on the cd drive and then click un-install. Restart your unit then test it,

If that does not work, I would un-install InCD, then re-install it. On Nero's website there a un-installers for Nero and InCD.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Cann't write in cd/dvd

DVD writing isn't possible in Windows XP without additional software such as Nero.

Do you have another DVD writing program installed in your computer?

Which drivers for USB External Hard Drive ?

Well, Occam's razor philosophy!  I just tried on my 250 Gb IOMEGA external HDD on Win98 and it worked. "Mass storage" jargon driver does NOT work. HOWEVER if you declare it as "USB FLASH DISK", it WORKS, (after computer reboots), though not that speedy. Anyway, you can do your job. Now if you have found any better solution, please forward it at oratiara@hotmail.com. Thank you!
