Question about Plumbing

1 Answer

My pump comes on and presurizes about every 20 to 30 minutes when there is not water being used in the house. If I shut the valve off from the pump to the storage tank the tank will stay presurized and will not continual cycle. When the valve is open it sounds like water running in a wall on the other side of the house the wall shows no signs of water or dampness and the pump continues to cycle on and off (every 20 to 30 minutes). I have been told the check valve may be not working properly is this possible or do I have a leak some where.

First off you should not have a valve in between the pump and the holding tank , if that valve gets shut off when the pump is running it can damage your switch second an you shut the valve off after the tank to see if it drops in pressure then if not then you have a pinhole leak. . if the pressure does drop when the valve AFTER the tank is shut "not between the pump and tank"

It sounds like the check valve not holding. If there are no signs of any wetness from a leak the check valve in the pump ,seems to be letting water leak back in well.

\i just got a Canature water softener and ionizer installed, every time it cycles water gets into my water lines and spurts out for about 15 minutes, pipes shake

sounds like a mix of things

if you have pipes not locked tight
and 1ft = 1 clamp spaces

also check any 'gate' type valves are all fully open
use a presure 'keep' valve regulator to turn down the water presure
to 1.5 - 2 bar {60psi}
if you half close a gate valve
then the whole intake can vibrate and sing
even how much you try to wedge the pips

its the gate valves cause issue
in cold water then it uses presure joints and presure makes the seal
but gate valves will bring like the read in a woodwind instrument like a claronete

so your pipes will sing

check all the filters intake valves at the machine filters
and your gate valves on your water supply to the machines hozes

My water supply pump to house works but does not pump water from tank to house

What type of pump is it? Is it a shallow well pump or submersible
pump? Is the pump connected to a pressure tank? How have you confirmed that the pump is working properly? Is there a drain valve, and is there water pressure from the drain valve when it is opened? If the pressure tank is of the pre-charged type, is it working properly? Is there water coming out of the air valve? Are there any shut-off valves in the system which may have been turned off, preventing water flow?

Hi, Tom, W/D here.
You shouldn't really need a check valve as the foot valve is in effect a check valve.
Next time that you are near the pump when it kicks on and you are using no water, let it achieve full pressure and kick off. Close the discharge valve, isolating the pump and suction line. Watch the pressure gauge. If the pressure falls, you either have a leak in the suction line, possibly a leak at the well head (sucking air), a leak in the casing riser pipe or bad foot valve.
If the pressure holds steady, open the discharge valve and note the pressure. If it falls immediately upon opening the valve, the leak would be on the house side if the pump. Look then for any sources of water usage (ice maker, drips in the tub, water from the pop-off valve at the water heater, etc.).
Best regards, and good luck.
If I can be of any further assistance, please post back.

If you can meet your needs with the pressure you have now, reduce the pressure cut off switch pressure until it shuts off. Your housing is probabbly sealed to the motor. Try shocking it with a rubber mallet to break the seal.

When you hear water running, it is usually in a drain. You probably would have noticed a leaking faucet, so it's probably a toilet. Try shutting off the supply pipe to any toilet you suspect and see if that stops the pump. Then you have to fix the toilet.
I hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa, and good luck.

I have a HE3 and I would like to know why it had water in it this morning when I went to put laundry in it?

The first possibility is the water valve in the machine is not sealing and it dripped water through the valve into the machine since you last used it.(there are four solenoids on a mixing valve) Something may have lodged, valve may be going, may go away, may get worse, flood laundry room in rare cases.(suggest turning off the hot and cold water house lines between use at the shutoff where washer is connected)

Second is the pump did not pump out the water, but the clothes would not have spun out, not very likely by your description of problem .

Lastly low water pressure on your house line may have affected the valve shutting off, but this is also rare, again, shut off water to unit between use at house supply lines.(hot and cold)
good luck

Washer overfilling tub and not shutting off

did it start agaitating? if yes then its your water valve.[where the fill hoses attach to washer from house] if no then it has to do with water level switch.in whirlpool/kenmore washers its very common for the water presure tube to come off of the water level switch.up in the timer console area.other brands dont have that happen as much.some times a mouse has chewed in that presure tube .see what you can do with that.check back with us if needing more help. I have a bosch 24cdi rsf combination boiler reaching 3 bar pressure and blowing off through release valve. any suggestions.

if this occurs when the unit is in use for only hot water, there will be an internal leak in the secobndary heat exchanger, you will have to replace it. check first that the charging link has been removed when testing to ensure it is not passing.
if it happens when the heating is switched on then check the presure in the expansion vessel ( dump all presure from system and use a car foot pump with a gauge there should be 1 bar presure) that is the big red thing behind the pump, if water comes out of the test valve on the front of it when you try to test it or it wont hold the presure you will have to replace it (a nasty job you have to strip half the boiler) if you can pump it up make sure you release the presure in the system as you pump it or you will get a false reading
