SOURCE: The spinner is not rotating

If this is a TOP LOADING Roper washer, a no spin problem can have several causes. However, most commonly, this is caused by either a lid switch malfunction or a broken motor coupling. The following link explains how you can diagnose the problem and repair it yourself:

If this just a simple matter of the agitator not working, but everything else does, you may just have a worn agitator cam assembly, worn agitator dogs, loose agitator bolt, or all of the above. The following link explains what agitator dogs are and how to access them:

Whirlpool manufactured washers (such as Roper) use a split agitator design. The top half is known as the "auger, while the lower half is the agitator. Between the two pieces is a cam assembly, with small teflon teeth known as "dogs". There's also an agitator bolt that holds the entire assembly to the center post.

If the auger (top half of the agitator) is slipping, I would suspect the dogs or cam assembly need to be replaced. The part number for the dogs is included in the link I provided. For a little more you can purchase the entire cam assembly which includes the dogs, the cam, the cam seal and thrust bearing.

If the entire agitator appears loose or slipping, check the agitator bolt to ensure it is tight. DO NOT overtighten as this can restrict movement of the agitator or damage it. Tighten until snug.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part numbers from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. All these parts are commonly sold as part of their in-store inventory.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool, so these instructions do apply.

Hi, I've got a Kenmore model 110.70052991 and the drum won't rotate. It will intermittently. I have just replaced the belt and it still won't spin consistently. Could it be the

are u able to spin the drum manually? do u hear any sounds? squeaking? scraping? smell anything? the rollers (spinners lol) usually make funny noises when they go out and may still turn but roughly. Bad bearings may be an issue here? However if the motor has bad windings it may not have enough power to run (turn) drum consistantly, u can remove the drum and belt and housing and run the motor by itself and see if it turns and runs easily. with no pressure or weight added? Then add drum and belt, once the drum is added and it stops or runs half hazardly its ur motor ? In some cases the tensioner the belt sits on ( near the motor) can be damaged and cause similar problems , lastly u did add the belt correctly?

Struts noise?

I would tend to believe it's more likely a worn sway bar bushing or link if it's a rattle or a small clunk, if it's a loud clunk probably a strut, try bouncing he back of the car when parked, if you get the clunk probably a strut if only when driving, turning, braking probably just a bushing on the sway bar

Top rack spinner is not spinning

First check - ensure that the jets at the end of the spinner blade are not blocked. Check that the spinner is not siezed by turning it by hand, other than a cracked or disconnected pipe, there can not really be another reason for the spinner not rotating (if the bottom one rotates).

The Celestron Nexstar 4SE makes a weird cracking noise when you press the left or right arrows on the controller. I tried taking it off of the tripod, and it still will not rotate left or right, even if...

Sound like a gear inside is either broken or the worm gear is locked up. Celestron can repair this if you call them here:

A friend gave me a Singer Tiny tailor 700 Mending machine recently. The lower thread is not coming up when the needle goes up and down. I referred to the manual. But it is not of much help. Please help me...

make sure your bobbin is threaded correctly from the spool and through the eyelet. with 4 or 5 inches of thread coming out of the bobbin and install the bobbin. Then, hold onto the end of the thread that is threaded through the needle while you manually rotate the spinner allowing the needle to drop all the way down and backup again . If everything is right, your needle thread will come up with the bobbin thread as you slowly pull on the needle thread and rotating the spinner . Make sure you rotate the spinner wheel the same direction it normally rotates while running .

Machine rocks, all four sides, removed and oiled clutch bearings, tightened the belt, still rocks and errors out no matter the size load, machine is balanced. ?

I feel you still have a clutch problem... Did you try this test before you cleaned up and re-lubed the One-Way Roller clutches in the Clutch pulley?

From my Clutch Fix post;

Let's demystify dC and uC error codes plaguing the FAV6800A and the LCD Flavor FAV9800A

One last step before you clean up those pesky Clutch Pulley One-Way Roller Clutches/bearing.

Holding what I call the Spinner Shaft coupler first picture. Insert that coupler into the Clutch One-Way Roller bearing plate.

Now while holding the Spinner Shaft Coupler with one hand as I show in the second pic with your other hand rotate the white bearing plate in the CW direction around the Spinner Shaft Coupler.

The One-Way Roller Clutch bearing plate should rotate freely in the CW direction this is the wash/agitate direction.

Now rotate the One-Way Roller Clutch bearing plate in the CCW direction it should lock up solid.

Most times the One-Way Roller clutches will slip did it slip for you? This will cause the agitator shaft to move slightly causing slight tumbler rotation while the wash basket begins to spin up unbalancing the wash load causing big time wash tub swings and those pesky unbalance error codes.

The Control Board sees the TDS analog voltage swings out of design limit and shuts down the spin cycle. If the TDS was not working as designed the machine would walk across the room and unplug itself or self-destruct.

The Control Board programming will try several attempts to redistribute the wash load and when the magic number of wash load redistribution attempts has been reached the Control Board signals a dC or uC error code to the display. I believe the FAV9800A signals a text error to the display i.e. "unbalance condition?" or something like that.

Anyway I thought you might want a little more insight into just what is going on here. A very poor Clutch design by Maytag. Mine failed at the 3.5yr mark of service and I was not about to trash a $1K machine. Sorry to say I feel number of them do make it to the curb on bulk trash pickup day.

I call this the Spinner Shaft Coupler. Not sure what Maytag calls it.

This is the One-Way Roller Clutches/bearing.

While holding the Spinner Shaft Coupler with one hand rotate the white One-Way Roller Clutches/bearing plate in the CW Wash/Agitate direction with your other hand. It should rotate freely in the CW direction around Spinner Shaft Coupler.

Now rotate the white One-Way Roller Clutches/bearing plate in the CCW direction the Spin Cycle direction. It should lock up and not rotate CCW around the Spinner Shaft Coupler. If it does the tumblers will rotate slightly and cause the wash basket load to go off balance as the wash basket spins up.

If the TDS is working as designed the machine will fail in Spin Cycle with dC or uC error codes. If the One-Way Roller Clutches/bearing can be cleaned up and re-lubed you could be back in service with no cost.

If so what were the results?.................Rich

Dyson vacuum cleaner DC04

I would suggest you invert the vacuum and remove the plate covering the spinning brush assembly. You should check the belt located on one side of the spinner brush to see if it is worn or broken. Also remove anything wrapped around the brush that could be affecting it. Ensure the brush is free to rotate and seated correctly. If the belt is worn or broken, or the spinner brush is unable to spin, replacements are available from a licenced repair facility. I hope it helps! Good Luck!
