Question about Sanyo PLC-XP55 Multimedia Projector
Sanyo PLC-XP55 lamp is good - shows blue screen logo on powerup but goes to blank screen since it does not see the input from the vga port connected to computer. The vga port is outputting a signal but projector does not recognize it. It begins counting down the power off timer since it sees no input. Power off and unplug projector sometimes causes things to work again. Is this a controller board problem?

I have a Sanyo XU35. Mine was starting up and showed a picture for about 15 - 30 seconds then shutting down. My lamp warning light was not coming on. When I put it in for repairs it turned out to be the lamp that needed replacing. The technician said it is not uncomman for the lamp to be gone and the lamp warning light not to come on. I got my lamp on e-bay from ping_ngo for a great price.

Ok kumar i did some research on your problem.
Im not real savvy with projectors, but im going to try and lead you into the right direction. Now when you connect your projector to your computer, you need to go to your input settings on your projector and put them on "auto". In your product manual it says the computer should automatically detect the projector. Now if the projector isnt displaying a proper screen then you need to to go into the manual settings and adjust the settings.
Now i want you to goto this website:
This is the manual for your projector. Scroll down to the table of contents and click on the bold letters COMPUTER INPUT click that and read a little about the way your computer connects to the projector. I hope this helps, please let me know an update. thnx

The Fix Ya rep suggested that I try the "Reset" button located next to the Audio out on the side of the projector; this solution proved to be the fix I needed. I was able to get the lamps to warm up and get into the menu to cut back the bulbs/power consumption on start-up, allowing the projector to function for a problem-free 4 hour period Unfortunately, I had the same issue this morning, but the same fix worked again.

I had the same problem and the technician diagnosed as being caused by
a faulty Ballast which he said caused the bulb to fail. He didn't test
the bulb but his experience indicates that even if the bulb was not
blown it would have been stressed and it would only be a short time
before it fails completely.
When these fail there is no real reason for it it seems but it has been suggested that a probable cause could be not cleaning the filter, at least every six months. The result of a dirty filter would be overheating and this could be the cause of the failure.

In the on-screen menu...
Press MENU, go to SETTINGS ICON, Move to Lamp Reset
Also, to see lamp hours used, press and hold the UP ARROW (on the unit, not on the remote) for 30 seconds while projector is on.
