Question about Gateway FPD1975W 19" LCD Monitor

Monitor will not stay on

My monitor will not turn on. The power button lights blue for only about 1-2 seconds then turns off. It is only a year and a half old so it is out of warranty. I have read this is a common failure. Can you help me with finding replacement parts to repair this monitor? Or any help with this problem would be great! I took it apart and cant find anything that looks blown or burnt. Thanks

Same problem, the monitor will go black after a few seconds. The monitor is three weeks over the one year warranty, so no help from Best Buy. Does Best Buy install some type of timed self destruct in these ?

I have the same problem. I've been having to unplug the munitors power cord from the wall, wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in. After 2-3 tries it comes on but I have to go in and reset the screen resolution every time. It's a temporary fix until I get a new monitor. My monitor is a year and a half old. If anyone knows how to permanently fix this please post. Thanks.

Monitor is almot two years od. From the beginning it was not working properly. the white aeas of the screen turned pink.. About two weeks ago it flashed on for an instant, then went black. Now it does not come on at all, nor does the blue led. I have connected it to another computer but it still does not come on. So itt isn't the video card.

I also have the same monitor and same issues. Ours is about 2 years old, and actually, our Gateway harddrive fried about 2 months ago, now the monitor is gone to ****. I will NEVER purchase another Gateway computer. I have owned IBM and HP and had no issue with these until several years after purchase. I would strongly recommend these brands over Gateway. Oh yeah, and when my harddrive went bad, I called Gateway. Given that it was past warranty, they gave me a service line that I could call for help, which costed $200 for a year contract. They basically told me I would have to call a local computer repair place or buy a new computer. Yeah, thanks a lot bud for not solving my problem and charging me $200. I asked for a refund, but they refused. Don't get suckered like me!

I had the same problem, and no help from gateway or best buy. Now the computer's drive keeps crashing. I will never buy another Gateway! Its only a year old.

Mine started this same nonsense just today! I purchased it on 12/9/07. Obviously, it finally came on and stayed on, but I don't know what will happen the next time I turn off/on the computer. As info, I DID NOT install EzTune software w/theft deterrence. A couple days ago, a password box began popping up anyway! To get passed it, I just pushed the menu button a couple times and that seemed to work temporarily. Something's weird about this--anybody discovered anything??

Solution #2 indicates that the Hz needs to be correct for the monitor. What is the correct Hz for this monitor?

I am having the same issues with my Gateway FPD1975W turning off after a few seconds. Gateway Support was less than helpful. Had anyone found a fix? Is it fixable or is the monitor trashed?

Just dont shut your comp off

Check your driver to ensure that it's the correct driver.
If the Hz is not correct for the monitor... the monitor may turn itself off.. :0)

Have you tried checking with another monitor. Meaning that if the second monitor does not come on then the problem is with your computers mother board. But if the monitor other monitor you check it with comes on then of course it is your monitor.

I have a HPw1907 monitor and it will turn on for about 2 seconds, and it turns off. The CPU is fine, just a problem with the monitor. Any way to fix this?

We have the same model of monitor and had the same problem few days ago. The monitor just goes black/turns off. I noticed that the power button has a yellow blinking light and cannot be turn on/off again using the power button. The CPU is working fine also. When I turn off the avr, the power button's light turns blue for a few second and you can hear a click sound from the back of the lcd before it totally turns off. My lcd monitor is over a year old now and is 110v or 220v capable. Mine was originally in a 220v, i just put it in 110v and the monitor was fixed.. Hope this can somehow fix your problem.

This happened to me and I was able to fix it. I cracked it opened and found a bad capacitor, bought a replacement at Radio Shack and I'm back in business. Actually using it right now to post this.

Same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.

Have you tried any other monitor connected to your computer since your current problem? Check your connections, make sure your VGA cable/DVI cable are in good condition. If none of that works try to RMA it to sceptre if your still within the 1 year period.
