First check your venting if all is clear it could be several things, thermal cut out, thermal fuse. These parts are very inexpensive and all are easy to replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that can walk you thru the troubleshooting of your problem. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also get diagrams and illustrations of your specific model by entering your model #. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

The problem is with one of the thermostats or thermal fuse a simple continuity check will find the faulty tstat. Check the video on replacing a heating element it will show you how to check these other fuses. This is not the same model but the testing will be the same.

T|he heating element won't stop heating

Hi, The element has broke and shorted out against the metal on the dryer. You will need to replace the element. If this is a rear access panel dryer, here is how to get to the ele UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the element on the right hand side. Plug the dryer back in and test to see if there is 240V going to the element posts. If there is voltage, but no heat, change the element. If it does not, you need to test the thermostats for continuity. If any of the thermostats are open, replace it. I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Whirlpool Ele. dryer Model # LEL8858EQ1

You have a bad timer that is allowing your heating element to come on.

UNPLUG YOUR DRYER......NOW!!!! BEFORE YOU BURN THE HOUSE DOWN.

Call a whirlpool tech or service company to come out and service your dryer.

Do not use until serviced.
