Look under the menu's of your camera, something may be blocking it. Try hooking up your SD card to your computer, and reformatting it. This can be done from your camera too.

SD Card Reader

1. Turn on your computer and put the SD card into the card reader slot on the front of your computer or the external card reader attached to a USB port. Wait to see if your operating system automatically opens a window prompting you for information. Click on the option to "Open a folder to view files" if the window pops up.

2. Click on the "Start" button if your operating system does not automatically prompt you to open a folder. Choose the "My Computer" option to bring up a new window.

3. Right-click on the drive bay for your card reader, and then choose the option that says "Reformat" from the pop-up menu. Click on the option to set the formatting to "FAT16" if you receive a separate pop up window asking you which file system to set the card to.

How to upload the picture through my PC.

If you need the drivers for your camera, you can get them right from Canon at http://www.canon.ca/inetCA/products?m=gp&pid=817 Your PC likely already has a photo program of some type on it, or you can download a nice free one from Google called Picassa. It is easy to load and works well for quickly downloading and organizing your photos from your camera. Hook up to your PC with the USB cable that came with your camera, turn the camera on, and the rest should be automatic. The first time you hook up to your computer, it will go through the Found New Hardware process, which should be automatic, then it will ask you what you want to do. Choose to download the photos with Picassa or whatever photo program you prefer. At the same time, you can choose to wipe the card clean or leave the photos on the card. As an alternative, you can get a card reader that plugs into your USB port. If you prefer this route, ask your dealer about the options available. Card readers are much faster than cable.

My computer was clean-up and i lost how to download the pic to the computer i think that i need a disk

Generally, if you use the USB cable which came with the camera, and plug it into the PC first, then into the camera, it should take a few moments to recognize the equipment. Once that is done, then a screen should pop up asking how you want to handle the connection.

Basically, if you choose the option which most closely resembles copying/moving the photos to a location on your PC, you will be in business.

If you want to do more with the camera-to-PC connection, you might go to the manufacturer's web site, look for the "support" option, and choose to download the manual, the software, the drivers, etc., which most nearly matches what it is you want, or need. Then, carefully install whatever you got.

Good luck,
-a.

When camera is in playback mode, press MENU, choose icon on right of screen that says "SET". On second page 2/2 of setup menus make sure USB option is set to DSC (download to pc) and not PC cam (webcam). When connected to computer's usb port, you should be able to browse camera's memory card with windows explorer as if it were a disk drive. Click on My Computer and you should see the camera as drive e:\,f:\ etc. Copy and paste files from memory card to any folder on your computer.

My camera won't connect to my computer

This can be caused by several things. First plug up another USB device to that port. if it works you know your port is good. next hook up the camera and look in my computer for a extra drive letter. if you see on that is your camera. If nothing still see if you can hook it up to another persons computer to see if your cable and camera is ok. If the camera does work and none of these help out then it is a drivers issue. you will need to go into saft mode by hitting f8 when the pc first starts up goto option 3 safe mode now right click on my computer Icon and goto properties. Find device manager. in their click on hardware now find the USD devices and try to remove all of the usb listings once you have done that reboot the system the system will come up in normal mode. And start loading all of your usb devices again. Now hook up the camera and see if it works. If that does not work then in XP goto the system tools are in you accessories area. and choose system restore. choose the date closest to the last time it worked. Once you restore the system then hook up the camera again. This should work as long as all hardware is good.
