Cleaning is simple. Vacuum the rear vents to remove any dust that has built up.

For screen and the fascia, -

1. Unplug the monitor from the power supply.
2. Fill a bowl with warm water with some washing up liquid - just as you would to clean dirty dishes. Soak a soft clean cloth in the water (Kitchen cloth - NONE ABRASIVE!! and not a sponge!), and wring the cloth out so that it is damp (not wet!) and gently wash the screen. When finished use kitchen roll to dry off the monitor.
3. Stubborn marks on the LCD, using the same damp cloth, apply a spot of neat washing up liquid to the cloth. Clean as before - DO NOT PRESS on screen. When finished, use kitchen roll as before.

Voila!

How to clean screen

I dont know which type you have but here is how to clean either:

CRTs
Those big chunky CRT monitors have glass screen which are easily cleaned. The important thing to remember is that you don't ever want to spray any liquid directly on the screen. Instead, spray the cloth with water or a mild window cleaning solution then wipe the screen. You can use the same damp cloth to clean the entire monitor case, as well. If you prefer, you can also use moistened paper towels to clean CRT monitors, You will be only cleaning the outside of the monitor case and screen. Never open the monitor casing which contain electric voltage that can cause a shock.

Flat Panel LCDs
LCD monitors are often called flat panel monitors because they are flat and thin. These are the types of screens that are used in most laptop computers, and they are also becoming very popular for desktop computers. LCD screens are softer than CRT glass screens, so they require some extra tender loving care. Keep your fingers and sharp objects away from these screens since they are susceptible to damage and scratches.
Use a soft dry cotton cloth to remove fingerprints and smudges from the screen. If this does not completely remove the dirt and splotches, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on the cleaning cloth that has been dampened with water. (A small amount of vinegar can be substituted for the isopropyl alcohol.) Again, spray the liquid on the cloth and never directly onto the screen. Do not use paper towels on an LCD screen as they can scratch the screen. Never use ammonia, ammonia-based cleaners, or strong cleaners which can cause the surface to yellow and become brittle.
It is good to have a special clean cloth that is dedicated to use on the LCD screen. Don't pick up any old rag, as dirt particles in the rag can scratch the surface of the screen. Special LCD cleaning cloths are available and can be an excellent investment.

I have a Samsung DLP-TV, HL-T5055W. The instructions say to clean it only with a clean dry cloth, well my dog made nose prints on the screen. Is there anything I can use to clean them off, since a...

How Can I Clean The Fingerprints Off The Screen On My TV? spacer.gif To clean fingerprints and greasy smudges off your TV screen, first try using a dry, anti-static cloth and rubbing gently.
Note: Many Samsung TVs come with a screen cleaning cloth. Use that cloth and follow the directions on the package.
If that does not work, get a bottle of ScreenClean screen cleaning solution or similar screen cleaner. You should be able to get it at most regular and on-line stores that sell monitors or TVs. Put a small amount of ScreenClean on a clean, soft, dry cloth, and then rub the screen gently.
WARNING: Never use any type of window cleaner, soap, scouring powder, or any cleanser with solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ammonia, or paint thinner. Never use abrasive pads or paper towels. If you do, you can scratch the screen or strip the anti-glare coating off the screen and cause permanent damage.
Cleaning It Right There are four steps you must take to do the job right:
  • Unplug your TV before you begin to eliminate the risk of electric shock.
  • If you use ScreenClean or a similar screen cleaner, put or spray the ScreenClean onto the cloth. Never put or spray it directly onto your TV screen.
  • Wipe as gently as possible. LCD, Plasma, and DLP screens in particular are fragile and can be damaged if you press too hard.
  • Let the screen dry completely before you plug the TV back in.
Food and DLP Screens Getting sticky food such as peanut butter or jelly off the screen of a DLP TV is especially difficult because the tiny grooves in the screen's surface trap small food particles. In fact, you probably will not be able to remove the food entirely. If you need to remove sticky food from your DLP TV screen, follow the directions above, be patient, wipe gently, take additional time, and understand that you will almost certainly leave some food residue on the screen.

Can I clean my ViewSonic LCD Monitor (VE510b) with water (using cloth)? Please tell me easy procedure of cleaning my ViewSonic LCD Monitor screen. email: [email protected]

Hi

Time Required:
Cleaning a flat screen (LCD) monitor usually takes less than 5 minutes Here's How:
  1. Turn off the monitor. If the screen is dark, it will be easier to see the areas that are dirty or oily.
  2. Use a dry, soft cloth and very gently wipe the screen. A great choice would be the microfiber type of cloth used to clean eyeglasses.
See Tip #1 below for kinds of cloths to avoid.
  3. If the dry cloth did not completely remove the dirt or oil, do not press harder in an attempt to scrub it off.
Pushing directly on the LCD screen can often cause pixels to burn out.
  4. If necessary, dampen the cloth with distilled water or with an equal ratio of distilled water to white vinegar.
Many companies also sell small spray bottles of special cleaner for flat screen monitors but the vinegar mixture is usually just as effective.
See Tip #2 below for products to avoid.
  5. The plastic edge that surrounds the screen can be cleaned with any multipurpose cleaner but take care to avoid contact with the screen itself.
Tips:
  1. Avoid using paper towels, toilet paper, tissue paper, or something like your shirt to wipe the LCD screen. These non-ultrasoft materials can scratch the screen.
  2. Avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia, ethyl alcohol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid, or methyl chloride. These chemicals can react with the materials that the LCD screen is made of which could yellow the screen or cause other kinds of damage.
  3. Never spray liquid directly on the LCD screen or it could run inside the monitor and cause damage.

Hard crusties? what do you do to have this type of matter on the screen?

Be carful with what you use on the screen, a damp cloth is permissable. This does not mean spraying liquid directly on the screen and wiping it

Spray into the cloth or dampen cloth and wring out well. Do not let any excess water drip down the screen especially if it gets into the TV via the outer frame around the screen.otherwise poof it will never work again
