Its a possibility then that if the fuse has been replaced that the cable inside has either come apart or you have a broken switch. If its only a year then you should be covered automatically with Hoover's guarantee.

SOURCE: hoover steamvac f5899-100 died, will not come on.

There is no fuse on a hoover steanvac, but it may have a ac/dc converter. I do not have a model list in front of me but if it does then this probally went bad. Another option is it may have overheated give the machine 12 hours to reset internally and try it again.

SOURCE: hoover stean vac dual with 5 brushes

I think this is the same unit I have, I might have a couple of solutions. No, there is not a belt that turns the brushes and there is not a fuse.
First of all, make sure the brushes have been clicked into the machine properly. The entire plastic housing unit for the brushes can be removed by pulling on the casing gently. It should pop out. Make sure the pegs and clips line up with the holes in the machine when reattaching the brushes. You should hear it click when they are on properly.
If the brushes are attached properly and they still won't spin here is another possible solution. This happened to mine.
The plastic pegs on the housing unit for the brushes might have been stripped out. The pegs are supposed to be squared tip to click into the square hole of the machine. If the pegs aren't the same shape as the hole, the machine can't grab them to spin the brushes.
The tallest peg on mine somehow got stripped to a rounded shape. I tried wrapping tape, plastic, etc around the peg to make it fit in the hole snug, but it only worked for a few seconds and broke again. I am going to have to replace the brush set. You can order parts from Hoover but I haven't priced them yet.
I hope this helps you.

U5758-900 Hoover Vacuum. It stops a couple of seconds after turning it on. It would turn on and off again if I keep trying to turn it on a second later. It is not the switch. I think it might be a fuse but...

Try checking for loose or broken wiring. Sometime with the right movement and/or vibration, the wire will make contact and turn on the vacuum and vice versa.

Hoover vacuum turned off and wont go back on

Generic problem for all Vacuums
Hoover vacuum turned off and
Hoover vacuum turned off and won’t go back on

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure
Not knowing the model number – or if it is a canister or upright --- you may have a defective switch and would need to replace it – check with you local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages or call the Hoover Co for further assistance

Hoover Steamvac Widepath 6500 leaks

You didn't give your model number, but if this is a V2, you may have a crack in the tank, alot of times it is underneath the seal on the bottom. Or the plunger at the bottom of the tank is stuck open or missing.
