Nikon Coolpix L4 flash not working

My Nikon Coolpix L4 flash has suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason! The camera still takes pictures and there seems to be no other problems, but I cannot get the flash to engage. I checked the flash settings to make sure it was on automatic flash and this still has not solved the problem. I've visited several camera repair sites and have not had any luck! please help?! I love this camera! Thanks so much!

The exact same thing happened to me one day! The flash just stopped working one day.. I don't want to pay to much money to get it fixed.. Is this a common problem with this model? Should I buy a different camera?

I have the same problem since May 2. Unfortunately not worth getting it fixed. Time for another camera - not Nikon!

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MINE. WHAT A SCAM

Flash decided to quit a few months ago. Changing the flash setting in the menu and resetting the camera defaults made no difference. It's dead. Also the camera "eats" batteries at an alarming rate--it always tells me that "battery exhaused" while my volt/ohm meter says differently. I pull the "old" batteries out and put them in my flashlights, and they illuminate just like new.
I will not be shopping Nikon anytime soon.

I have the very same problem with the Nikon Coolpix L4 Digital Camera. The flash suddenly stopped working and will not work no matter what the setting. Very frustrating. The camera has not had much use. I am very disappointed in this product.

Just reset settings to original. click the symbol that looks like a wrench, then scroll down to last option which asks if you want to reset all to original, and the flash is back:)

This has happened to mine a couple of times. I cannot select flash, and the blur indicator is on most of the time.
Solution is to go into 'menu', select 'SET UP' then 'reset all'. My flash selection then works again.
Since one doesn't tend to set much up with a basic camera like this, resetting shouldn't cause any issues.
Hope this helps

I have the same problem since I reboot my computer with the USB cable connected to the camera (and the camera was turned on...). During the reboot, the flash shot for the last time and then never worked again. The camera is ok for taking pictures without flash, just the flash doesn't work. People in specialized Nikon service told me that it would have to be replaced the circuit, so it doesn't worth for the price (almost the same as a new one). Is it possible to fix it?! It seems to be so simple... but I don't know... :-)
