Question about Acer AL2017 20" LCD Monitor

Acer Monitor The Volume display is always on, right in the middle of the screen. My volume display is always on too. It came on all on its own and won't go away. How frustrating!

    thank you- I've actually tried that- none of my buttons respond, even the power is locked. I have contacted the Acer tech. support (by email), but nothing they have recommended so far has worked. I'm going to sit on their phone lines today until I get it fixed or returned...

    I know why my monitor failed: a cat sprayed it (ech!) and gummed up the works. It's not in warranty so I took the case apart, no easy feat but do-able, and cleaned the control module in front, hoping that this would solve things. Nope! It goes on but the on-off button won't turn off and there's nothing on the display although you do see the Acer logo when it powers on. Is there a fix?
    I have 2 specific questions: Is it possible to replace just the control circuit in front and if so how do you unplug the flat cable connecting it? Also does it need a driver which might be missing? I know that's three questions but oh well. Thanks if anyone can help out.

    Actually my dad has the same problem with his acer flat screen....worked fine for ages, then just over the last couple of weeks it's stuck on...


    I told him to press one of the monitor buttons and this solved it for a while, but now it's back and nothing works....

Give both the up and down buttons a tap. Sometimes even if the button comes out, the physical switch behind it dosnt.

    If it is under warranty, then that is always the best method.



    If no other buttons are responding, then it's a good chance that the switch has colapsed and is therefore always considered to be on. They will probably not grill you, but so you know, they may try and say it's a customer fault and you have forced the button in too hard. So please be prepared for them to come at you with that tact.

Volume is very slow


HDD volume low or the Sound volume HDD:- Consider un-installing un-wanted programmes and deleting all information you no longer wish to have or consider buying a larger storage device.
Sound Volume in your control panel depending on which OS you have go to sounds and turning the volume up if your not sure where this is you can always go to the task bar on the bottom right and side of your screen and right clicking the volume icon there is a volume control panel turning this up will increase the volume of your computer

Monitor , Can''t find the volume control access


Press the OSD (On Screen Display) button.
Navigate through the menu-items, until you find the volume-change item. Adjust the volume.

A volume controle massage in the centre of my screen that I can not remove.


This particular Acer monitor has no speakers and the volume message is not comming from the monitor its comming from the computer.

Could you please prove this issue by connecting the monitor to another pc and see if some sort of menu display happens again?

Image is off center bottom is cut off so I cannot see commands


This page is for ACER products. Select the DISPLAY, the choose the correct model for your monitor. There select Guides and Manuals. When you get the PDF file open, look for ADJUSTING DISPLAY SETTINGS. (page 6)

This is what was one one product's manual. This is similar to what my HP monitor uses. Hope this helps.

User Controls
A brief description and the location of all LCD Monitor function controls and indicators:

Stereo Speakers
PC Audio Stereo output.

Speaker Volume Control
Increase Volume - Turn the knob clock wise.
Decrease Volume - Turn the knob counter clock wise.

DC Power Switch
Press the power switch to switch the monitor ON/OFF.

DC Power-On Indicator
LED lights Green color --- Power is ON.
LED lights Yellow --- Monitor is in "Power Saving Mode".
LED is off --- Power is OFF.

Function Select Buttons
Press either left or right control button for OSD (On Screen Display) menu selection.

Adjustment Control Buttons
Press the left button to decrease the OSD setting and press the right button to increase the OSD setting.

External Headphone Jack
The monitor speakers will be disabled when using an external headphone or external speakers.

it is a volume button problem. first you ensure that button is stuck or not & you can checked it from computer store.

Acer speaker?


There are two possible problems here. (1). The volume control on your monitor is turned down. With the button on the front of your monitor, find the menu/option button, and look for volume control (2) The volume coming out of your computer is low. Double click on the speaker at the bottom right of your screen, located on the start bar. Use the sliders to change the volume. This should fixya up.

(strange) volume control icon stuck in the middle of my LCD monitor and the buttons on the front of the monitor are frozen and will not work?????


Restart the computer. Right click on the task manager > Task manager > End all the programs in Applications folder.
