SOURCE: reprogramming ingenico 6550

You all have it wrong. I know a lot of information about these Ingenico Signature Pads because I own a Ingenico 1000 which I bought that said Radioshack on the screen. These Signature Pads used by Radioshack and Blockbuster use custom firmware and they erase the Manufacture Firmware. I spent several hours trying to contact Ingenico to obtain a copy of the original firmware. But with no luck. They had no idea where to get it. They were able of e-mailing me some flashing program to reprogram the pad and form designing software. After digging deep in the several zip files Ingenico sent me I found a copy of the original firmware. But because the original firmware and the ladder (Program that allows a PC to connect and download a new firmware) had been erased my PC could not make a connection to download the original firmware. I also own a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and I had to purchase a special cable to load the ladder to download my custom made programs. I used the cable once and then I went back to original cable. Your POS provider should know where to obtain the firmware compatible with there POS software and possibly the process to reload the pad. My advice buy a pad new or purchase it from ebay and make sure the pad has the manufactures firmware. Also I wonder about your friend who got this pad obviously from Blockbuster. Because Blockbuster dose not sell their pads and they destroy them if they are old or busted.

SOURCE: Hardware attack

I don't but Ingenico does have a daughterboard that they can install that is supposed to relieve this issue. I am working with a customer who is also having this issue and we learned last week that Ingenico does have a hardware solution. I am supposed to receive some in the lab this week.

This usually means the pin pad has lost the injected programming. Ingenico may be able to repair it, but since they consider that the pin pad has reached it's end of life and been discontinued, they may not.

Tolerance of ingenico i6550 to electrical fault

We have i6580's and they have a theft protection feature that if they get slammed the screen will go black but the green power light is on. When this happens they need to go back to the factory to be reset. If the green light is off and the screen is blank they are not getting power. Check the cable connections. Also, sometimes the USB cable gets damaged which will cause connection failure.

Times out on debit and does not ask for pin number

This would be your connection to the bank, something is wroung with the actually connection I would be on the phone with them and ask them to send someone out its free to have them come look at the unit as they benifit from your sales and you beifit from not having these problems.. There is not problem with the unit the pin is the next screen yes and it sticks before then yes okay that is because the transmission failed..

I6550 configuration/initial install

You can find the user's manual at the URL below. From my experience, using this terminal requires active support from your POS software. It is said to work with Microsoft RMS, but I'm still trying to get mine to talk to the computer. Good luck with it.
