I have an Asus U50A and for some reason my cd/dvd drive doesnt work. It will bring up a program to run it like media center and will show that it has read the cd start it and then nothing. It will freeze up. Does the same thing for dvds I have tried resetting the bios to factory default and that did nothing. Anyone know what I can do to fix this. It is driving me nuts. I have a warrenty on it but dont want to have to take it in to wait and get it fix especially if it is something that I can do. Thanks
.Click on Start.

.This would open the Device Manager Window.
.Now locate something which reads as Cd/DVD , there would be a + sign next to it,
.Click on the +Sign next to it and down below locate the driver responsible for the funtioning of the cd & dvd.
.Now right click on the driver and then click on Uninstall.
.Now locate an option right at the top which reads as ACTIONS.
.Click on Actions and then click on Scan for Hardware Changes.
.Close the Device Maneger Window.
.Click on Start and in Start Search type Regedit and then click Enter.
.This would open the Registry Editor Window.
.Locate an option which reads as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
.Click on the +Sign next to it.
.Now locate another option which reads as SYSTEM.
.Click on the +Sign next to SYSTEM.
.Now Locate another option which reads as Current Control Set.
.Click on the +Sign next to it.
