Question about PC Desktops

Hi Helpmonkey I am still having the pixilation problem. Here again are your suggestions for my pixilation problem and what I did: March 29 hi shaidan .... start by updating your graphics card drivers.... (DONE) if there is no change then reduce your resolution and see if that effects it.... (DONE) are there alot of bad pixels as it is normal for an LCD display to have a few bad pixels... (THERE ARE WHOLE BLOTCHES OF PIXELS) March 30 hi Shaidan ... try going into the system settings and advanced then visual effects under performance... put it on custom then disable (remove checks) beside everything... (DONE) also many graphic cards have fans on the graphic processor these days... you can take a look at that and make sure it is clean and performing ok...(I AM NOT SURE I UNDERSTAND THIS LAST SUGGESTION, B/C YESTERDAY I FOLLOWED YOUR SUGGESTION AND I UPDATED MY GRAPHIC CARD DRIVERS- IS WHAT YOU ARE NOW SUGGESTING THE SAME THING?) BTW, a friend says it's a problem in the monitor and that it's the monitor that needs to be adjusted-?? Many thanks.

It could be the monitor but from you earlier descriptions it seemed to be related to the graphics card ... can you test your monitor on another system ... also you can reset the monitor settings using the controls on the monitor its self... the suggestion about the graphics card fan requires you to look inside the computer system ...

CF-29, shuts down periodically. restarts then works for a while, then shuts down. Error message says something about a mini dump.

Hi,

Maybe due to overheating issues. Clean up the cpu FAN (HAS TO BE FREE OF LINT AND DUST). For this you have to disassembly your laptop

If that doesn't help you may want to run Windows Recovery Console

I have a CF-29 with a touchscreen, and the screen just went extremely dark. I can just faintly see the desktop. Using the Fn/F1/F2/F3 makes no difference.

Hi

Thank you for your query

The problem you are experiencing is a fairly common problem with laptops, it would seem that if plugging the charger back in doesnt make any difference then the screen inverter will need to be replaced

Please plug in the charger to see if this makes any difference and if not you will need to book the toughbook in for replacement of the inverter

PLEASE HELP!!! Computer Wont stay on

I would recommend checking the heatsink and fan that is on the CPU. Your PC is overheating which is why it is shutting down. Either the fan connector came unplugged, or the heatsink is loose and not making good contact.
