Question about Dell Studio 1737 Laptop

When I plug in the adapter the blue light on the charger goes out immediately and does not charge the battery. I bought a new charger and it does the same thing. I've had both chargers checked and they are in perfect working order. I contacted Dell and they felt it might be the battery. It seems like its shorting out to me.

For a new battery, we advise that you update the BIOS of your laptop, and open the hardware automatic identification port of your laptop.

When you use it firstly, you need to discharge till 5%, then charge it about 11 hours. Usually, new battery need to fully discharge and charge for three or four times, which can achieve the best performance.

About the new battery, please set the power management of your laptop: Property -> Screen Saver -> power -> Power scheme -> Portable / Laptop -> please cancel about low battery alarm and serious shortage of battery alarm when use the battery.
For some laptops, you could try to close your power management tool to test your new battery.

You could try to take out the battery from your laptop, and put it back again, repeat several times. Make sure that it isn't a poor contact problem between the battery and your laptop.

If the battery works in higher temperature, the battery protection plate will work and the laptop restart program will make a termination order. You can take out the battery, put it back again, and avoid work in high temperature.

In order to avoid some damage to the battery, please note:
Please don't take out the battery when the laptop is in run status.
Please don't pull out the ac adapter frequently when the battery is charging.
Please use high quality and reliable laptop charger, not to use the universal laptop charger.


Are there something wrong with the new battery can not charging?
That's not usually the case. When equipment for the first time to recharge the battery, the instability of the voltage and current may cause the battery charge to 50% (sometimes more, sometimes less), and equipment stop charging the battery.
If this happens,don't worry. You just remove the battey from the equipment, recharge again. First charging a new battery may need several repeated process. Please be assured that this is normal.

Many people have reflected that Dell's notebook haven't recognised and charged the new battery problem. Usually, they solve this problem via BIOS refreshed.

Usually, please connect the battert with the power supply when you can refresh the BIOS.


You can download the BIOS program from Dell support website automatically installed and automatically restart till to complete. Of course, you could check its use manual in advance.

I got a brand new 170 battery for my studio 1737 . Now the battery has charged, but I plug it in and the window says battery plugged in, but not charging

First of all it's not the battery,
To check out the battery unplug the battery from the computer then try to plug in the charger.

It should do the same thing.

The problem with your computer is the motherboard.
It needs replacement. the port on where you plug in the charger is damaged, that's why the Light on the charger dies when you plug it in.

So if you still have a contract under dell call them then get it replaced.

Hi testing battery voltage will not give an accurate reading on battery condition U need a BATTERY LOAD TESTER.it will check the condition & give U a true reading on there condition ,..if batteries r good the next thing to check is the control box the charger circuit runs into the control then to the batteries if control box is faulty this could b the problem .,with youre charger not charging . NEW Battery not properly charging


Batteries have electronics data that software has to get to properly charge it. Newer lithium batteries maybe different. But apparently, you have a work around for a lengthy use of the new battery.

I have no power to my zv 5000(hp). It has the power cord and everything. the charge light does not light up when it chgs... But when I first plug it in I get a 3 second spurt of blue light from the on...


Hello,

First of all, disconnect your battery from back of the

laptop, then try and get a friend or a technician that

uses the same type of laptop, and try to swap the

battery just to check whether it works and charges

it properly. Also do the same thing with the

Adapter/Charger and charge it with it.

This is because, there are two diagnostic possibilities

here:

1.) It is either the battery that you bought is not good

and you need to return it quickly before its too late

or;

2.) The charger that you are using is bad, or not

supplying enough current to charge the battery

cells...and this might even damage the battery after

a while, or make the battery not to charge to its full

capacity and as well discharge quickly.

Try this out and let me know how it goes.

A bad battery is a definite possibility. Shorted cells are one of the ways they can fail, and then they put too much of a drain on the charger. Take the battery out of the laptop and see if the charger light stays on. This will eliminate the computer itself as the cause. Then you'll know you need to shop for a replacement battery. Replacement batteries are available from many sources online.

LIGHT COMES ON AC ADAPTER BUT GOES OFF WHEN PLUGGED INTO NOTEBOOK


This is possibly an internal power Supply fault. take the battery out, plug in the adapter, IF the unit works now, you have A: A battery problem, or B: a charging circuit problem. If the unit still fails to work, the power supply in the PC has faulted. You need to get a "Quote: for a repair.

Battery has gone dead. When I plug the A/C cord in the light on the charger immediately goes out and won't charge battery.


try connecting ac adapter alone without the laptop, check if ac adapter light will stay green or blue.
try another power outlet using the ac adapter alone without the laptop check if the ac adapter light will stay as green or blue. if all fails replace ac adapter.

if ac adapter stays green or blue try connecting to the laptop without the batt, check if the ac adapter light will stay on, if yes then try connecting ac adapter to laptop with the batt plugin check if the light stays green. if not update the BIOS. if fails replace motherboard.

Old battery not charging plug in charger green light goes out


If the system will not power on, and the LED on the AC adapter goes out when plugged into the system, then the most likely senario is the motherboard has failed. Remove the battery, Wireless card, Drives, RAM and connect the AC adapter see if anything changes. If no change, the MB is most likely bad.

Power problem


Your battery is probabily uncharged or disconnected. Try taking the battery out and putting it back in. Then charge it (by plugging in the AC adapter) until the green activity light stops flashing. If this does not work, your battery is probabily dead. Did you short it out? Or perhaps it is old. Li-Ion batteries (the kind used in these machines) lose their ability to hold their charge in a few years - even if they're not in use! So, if your battery is 3 or more years old, try considering a new battery.
