Question about Pioneer BDP-120 Blu-Ray Player

Open Question

BDP-120 adding "_SHLS_" file

When I try to update my pioneer bdp-120 blue ray player, I get a message stating that there is more than one file on the memory stick. After ensuring that there is only the update to the firmware on the memory stick, I realized that the player was adding an extra file called ''_SHLS_'' Every time I erase the file, it just keeps adding it and telling me the same error message. How can I fix this?

SOURCE: Trying to update firmware on

The reason it does this is because you are using a Mac's default un-zipping tool. Download Stuffit Expander and it will work no problem. - www.stuffit.com - It took me weeks to work this out. P O S.

Testimonial: "Good answer. Another solution (as i found out) was to download and unzip on a PC. Very backward of Pioneer to be un-Mac-friendly."

SOURCE: Trying to update firmware on

I had the same problem and immediately suspected that, as I had downloaded and expanded the .zip file on a Mac, I was suffering from the industry's usual bovine shortsightedness and that I needed to do it on a PC. I did and it worked. So I think the important part is to un-archive the .zip file on a PC, and find the file inside the resulting folder called
BDP12X_149.MVP
Make sure you have just that file on your USB stick, and no folders, and then the player should recognise it. You'll note that Pioneer's instructions don't mention this file name at all. Useless. Wish I'd bought another brand.

SOURCE: need code for Sony BDP-S350 for a Dish Network 622 remote

We would be happy to help you with that. Here is a list of codes that should address your DISH Network remote to your Sony Blu-ray player: 629, 671, 868, 617, 501, and 768.

Press and hold the DVD/VCR button located on the top of the remote until all the mode buttons at the top of the remote light up, then release. Use the number buttons to enter one of the codes for your Sony Blu-ray player, then press the pound (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times. You need to format your usb memory device which will mean that everything will be erased from it so move anything you want to save first. Before you attempt to place the file on the usb device again make sure it has been unzipped first.

You will need a USB flash drive to copy the update file and then connect it to your DVD player via USB port.

Good luck.
