Hello, My PS3 just keeps turning itself off. I have tried to reset the system but it keeps flashing red and yellow lights and then turns itself off into standby mode? HELP......

Are you seeing any flashing red/yellow lights?

If so this is the red light error and you will find that is why the system will not turn on.

Why Does It Happen?

The GPU and the CPU are the 2 main chips in the system and they deal with all of the number crunching however they can get very hot and if they lose connection the system will either freeze up or turn off and give you the red flashing light.

How To Fix?

The key is stopping the heat build up and you can either send it in and they will fix it for you.

Bear in mind that for the PS3 red flashing light error you will be waiting for about 4 weeks and it will also cost you $150 for the repair bill!

Sucks. You have the yellow light of death. kinda like sonys version of the red ring of death.

hello try a reset press and hold the standby button on the front of the ps3, you hear 1 bleep the 2 short bleeps after the short bleeps release the button it should reset good luck

When that happens, look at the LED "Lights" on the rightside of it. if it flashes red then it means it is overheating "most of the time" if it is flashing Yellow then you have what is called YLOD "yellow light of death" almost like xbox Red light of death

IF it is flashing red, then just clean your system by blowing it out with some air "do not try to open the system case it self" you can buy caned air from almost anywhere spray it in the ports on the front, sides and back of the unit..

IF Yellow light is Flashing Contact Sony playstation..

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.

ive tried holding the power button, but it automaticly turns itself off no matter what :@

it is fried and needs repairs if you break the seal by trying it yourself you void the warrany

well yes obviously the flashing red light means that if u do not turn off ur PS3 it will die. but depending on how long u have had ur PS3, it may be becuase the life span is almost over.
if u have not had for a couple years it is most likely a manufacturing error
u should send it in to sony before the warranty is up and have them take a look at it
