If you connect Nintendo to hdtv the Wii will not have HDTV compatibility.
This means that the nintendo does not have hight definition signal, like ps3 and xbox 360, even if you connect to an hdtv throught standard video adapter.
However if you buy a composite cable this will convert your signal quality to HDMI standard. Here you can buy the cable:
Link for USA and rest of the world
Link for UK and Europe,
I suggest to buy the official one from nintendo, clones are on the market, but sometimes they do not work.
Hope this solves your problem.

Regards

you need the s video sav/s-av cable adapter for the wii, ebay will be the cheapest most likely otherwise you are looking at $15 but one should come with the wii. You merely color match the cable to the inputs on the tv to put them in. Let me know if this answered your question or whether you need more help

    Thank you

How to set up nintendo wii internet

  • 1 In order to set up your Nintendo Wii internet connection, you need to have high speed internet service, such as DSL, cable, or fiber optic.

If you want to use a wired connection for your Wii, you will need to purchase the Nintendo Wii Lan Adapter and a long ethernet cable to reach your router or modem. The Wii Lan adapter is available from many sources for about $30 and the cable will cost you around $10 or more. If you want to plug in your computer and Wii at the same time, you will need a router. You do not need a router if you are planning on unplugging your computer when you use Wii over the internet. Honestly, wireless routers cost about $35 and don't require a cable, so I purchased a wireless router instead. Plus, I don't want an ugly cable running across the room.

If you still want to use the Wii Lan adapter to connect to the internet, here are the steps to connect your Wii Lan adapter to your Wii game system:

Make sure your Wii game system is turned off.

Attach the Wii Lan adapter to the USB port on the back of your console.

Connect the other end to an ethernet cable that goes to your router or modem.

    Turn your console back on.

If you are using the Nintendo Wii Lan Adapter to connect to the internet, follow this step. If you are connecting to the internet via a wireless router, skip this step and go to step 3.

To connect your Wii via a wired connection:

    Go to the Wii Menu.

Click on the round Wii button on the lower left corner.

    Click Wii Settings.

Click the right arrow to go to page 2.

    Click on the Internet button.

    Click Connection Settings.

    Click Connection 3.

    Click Wired Connection.

Your Wii will do a connection test and hopefully everything will be all set. You are now finished.

To connect your Wii via a wireless connection:

    Go to the Wii Menu.

Click on the round Wii button on the lower left corner.

    Click Wii Settings.

Click the right arrow to go to page 2.

    Click on the Internet button.

    Click Connection Settings.

    Click Connection 3.

    Click Wireless Connection.

Select Search for Access Point. Click OK.

Select the access point you want to use. Click Save and OK.

You may be prompted to enter your password.

Your Wii should now be all connected.

How do I hook my wii up to my magnavox 32mf338b HDTV?

If your TV does not have a scart socket, the only equivalent HD lead (as the wii doesn't support HDMI) is a wii component cable like the one here: http://www.amazon.com/Official-Wii-Component-Video-Cable-Nintendo/dp/B000JJRV90/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1262346399&sr=8-1 .

Most HDTV's havea component interface on the back as well as this is required. The six jacks are all colour coded so it shouldn't be a problem plugging it in the back but this is the only way to connect it up if you don't have a scart lead available.

You will need to buy HD leads for the Wii. You can pick these up for a cuple of punds on Ebay. Although you will only get the resolution to about 560i.

Nintendo Wii AV Cables not work

It could be a problem inside the Wii where it only outputs a signal through HD. Have you tried a different TV using the original cables? If the problem persists I would recommend calling Nintendo.
