You do not need to pull apart your laptop to clear the BIOS password.

If you are the original owner Toshiba will reset the bios for a fee and it is not cheap, they may include the HDD reset, if not! www.ebay.com type password, or hard drive password. I would check bios password, probably a lot cheaper if you can find the right seller, also check www.download.com some software may be free.

User passwords:
Power on
BIOS execution can be controlled by a Power On Password. This password is set in the BIOS Configuration screen, accessed by pressing the F1 key after pressing the power on switch to turn on the PC. If the person at the keyboard does not know the Power On Password, then BIOS execution halts.

Hard drive
The hard drive is controlled by the Hard Drive Password. After the Power On Password is entered, the person at the keyboard must be able to enter the Hard Drive Password, otherwise the disk drive will not spin up for use. Like the Power On Password, the Hard Drive Password is set in the BIOS configuration screen.

Administrative passwords:
Each of the two user passwords can be controlled by a Master or administrative password. If the administrative password is not set, then anyone who knows the user password can change it in the BIOS configuration screen. If the administration password is set, then it is impossible to reset the user password unless you know the administrative password. The Supervisor Password is the administrative password for the Power On Password. The Master Hard Drive Password controls the Hard Drive Password.

I dont know of a Dell Inspiron Hard-drive Password, but if you are speaking of the account password...then you can go into the control panel into user accounts and do that. Otherwise someone has to change the jumper settings on the system board to remove the BIOS password.

The hard disk password is setup using the BIOS configuration, this password is stored on the hard disk and there are no backdoor passwords you can use except the password you created and if you know this password then you can remove it permanently using the BIOS configuration. Moving this hard drive into another laptop will not work either, it won't allow access to this hard disk.
Your only option is to purchase a new hard drive to replace the one with the password.
If you also created a BIOS password, you need this password to get into the BIOS configuration.

All these passwords are created by users to prevent unauthorized access into the laptop and hard disk.

The hard drive password is set from the BIOS configuration where the hard drive was installed and you need to know the password to remove the existing password. You can only remove the password from that computer's BIOS and moving the hard drive to another omputer will not allow you to remove the password or access any data on that hard drive because the password is stored in the hard drive's firmware. This password protected hard drives prevents unauthorized access to the data on that hard disk.
Removing the BIOS battery will reset the BIOS but will not remove the password.
Some computers have been setup with Power On Passwords and/or hard drive passords and it is possible to hack/read the Power On Password that is stored on an EEPROM chip on the laptop, but it is not a simple process.
You will need to buy a new hard drive and now you also have a nice paper weight.

Will your NX6110 allow you to get into the Bios before the drive lock password coes up? If it doesnt and you dont know the password, you have two options. One being to send the laptop off somewhere to get the password an pay thru the nose. The other is just to buy another hard drive and re-load your system. Those passwords are build into the hard drives and there is really no way to get the password easily. You could of course pay for a machine that will hopefully get your password, but why pay all that money just to use it once, or twice. It comes down to the facts of how importand is the data on your hard drive?

you can go to your BIOS system set up and select the right sequence if you prefere HDD first then CD-ROM,

depends on your manufacturers settitng pls press F2 or F10 immediately upon start up then you will be prompted to enter password, ( if you know ) then scroll down until you see the booting sequence, dont forget to save this and end your system set up

If the password you forgot is the user password, reinstalling the operating system will help you. If the password you forgot is the bios password(one which should be entered before boot up), you could reset it by removing and resetting the button cell present in the mother board.
