Question about Lowrance LCX-25c GPS Receiver

Lowrance LCX 25-c transducer problems

My unit is five years old. I have already gone through one transducer and the current one is just a little over a year old. Problem now is the same as it was when I replaced the first transducer -- bottom depth starts flashing and will either stay at an incorrect depth (say 18 feet when I am in 200 feet of water) or the screen will freeze up. I see a lot of blogs and info on the problems with Lowrance tranducers and the Airmar P66 is a better choice. anybody have problems like I have had and/or have installed an Airmar P66 to replace the original Lowrance dual frequency tranducer and is it better?I am pretty sure the unit itself is ok as when I changed the original transducer, it started working fine again. Have been told the transducers are the weak link on this unit.

SOURCE: When turning on the Lowrance

here is the link to your the lowrance web site. the trouble shooting guide says that if you tried to it on another boat than you might need to take it in for service. but there is a section that explains how to do a soft reset on the unit. you might try that.

SOURCE: GP700F Airmar P66 to TM260

It doesn't sounds right. I have FCV-585 and did exactly what you did, going from P66 to TM260. The performance has improved dramatically and now I can read up to 500 metres. I suspect issues with your GP7000F unit.

Transducer loses bottom at any type of speed greater than trolling. Worked fine last year with all the same setttings. All I can think of is , maybe the battery is low. The boat just came out of storage...

Check the transducer for any damage on the front part. Also make sure there isn't any damage on the bottom of the boat that is causing air bubbles to cross the face of the transducer. If it works at slow speeds there is definitely something causing air bubbles.

Lowrance LCX-27C has power but only opens to the splash screen then powers down

The LCX-27C will draw up to 1.5 amps when powering up, if that amount of current is now available, it will power down. Double check your power connections. The +12vdc supply must be able to also supply enough current. Once you get it to stay on you can temporarily shut off the transducer by going into full mapping mode, or switch it to sonar simulation and the current draw will drop considerably. When you are ready for the permanent installation run solid connections directly to the battery and be sure to use the inline fuse for protection.

Lowrance LCX 28c HD with Navionics HotMaps Premium SD chip. Chip worked fine last fall but when I went to use yesterday the Lowrance would not read the chip.

I had the same problem with my handheld Lowrance Hunt C. After installing the card and locking it in place, I had to slide the card "out" toward the locking mechanism. It barely moves, but worked after that. Whenever I load the card, I now slide it out or wiggle it and it works every time.

Turning on my Lowrance LCX 111HD fish locator creates static with my ICOM M502 VHF Marine radio.

Hello LJones0455. From your detailed attempts there are few options. Position the transducers one foward one aft. Connect the negitives of the battiers to the boat still route both positive & negitive wiring to all devices. Check the continunity of your transducers include flexing while ohming. Let me know of the results.

Lowrance LCX-19C GPS Receiver Problem

It sounds like you may have to send it out for service, but before you you do there are a few things you can try.

Low voltage can cause erratic behavior. Since you already wired directly to the battery, check the plug for corrosion.

Try unplugging the transducer cable to see if the display still behaves erratically. You wont see depth readings but you should still see the screen going black. If no erratic behavior with transducer unplugged then problem is in the transducer cable or the plug. A common source of failure is at the plug because the added stress of plugging and unplugging cables can cause the socket to twist slightly which can cause a short.

Make sure you have the latest software update.

How to see if your LCX-19C is already using version 1.8.0 software:
  1. Press the MENU button twice on your LCX-19C.
  2. Select SYSTEM SETUP.
  3. Select SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
  4. The software version for your unit is located under the line that says "LCX-19C" (ex. "Version 1.8.0").
  5. If your version is the same version listed above, there is no need to download the software.
If it is lower than 1.8.0 you can download the update from this link: LCX-19C UPDATE
Copy it onto a blank MMC card and install it in your GPS. The GPS should prompt you on how to install the update.

If you need to send the unit in for service click this link: LOWRANCE SERVICE

Good luck!
