Hi Louna_st
There are apparaently some hardware upgrades to be done also to get the v2-v3 upgrade to work. try the following procedure to get the unit back to v2 again and at least get it operating.

To reload v2 turn off the MC-12. Hold down the four buttons in the middle column of the middle zone on the front panel and turn the MC-12 back on from the rear panel. Keep holding the buttons down until the Lexicon says 'waiting for download' on the front panel. When it is like that you should be able to reload v2.

640 amplifier manual

What you have is a semiconductor (transistor or IC) that is getting hot and so shuts down. You can trace it by running the amp and with the top cover off, blasting any suspects parts (one at a time) with Servisol Freezer Spray. You will have to wait will it goes dead, before spraying. If it comes back to life after spraying you have found the faulty part.

There may be a secondary fuse inside the unit, if not the problem will be in the power transformer, if you are handy with a digital post back and I will give instructions on testing the transformer.

Hi, I don't think the amplifier has a mm/mc phono stage, I think it's an optional item.

You can buy one pretty cheap.

Get your money back. I had similar problems with new NAD purchases a year or so back. NAD has had all sorts of repair issues.
I'll never buy anything from them again.
