Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

1 Answer

Bottom cover of laptop won't come off.

Hi. I was trying to remove the bottom cover of my Inspiron 1501. I removed all the screws, however something is holding it in the rear centre, just under the power button and in line with the VGA port. No more screws are visible.

Dell Inspiron 1501 Power Button won't turn on ....

I would remove the hinge / power button cover again and make sure the little pip that presses the button down it not broken, also check the little circuit board with the switch on to make sure it's not disconnected.
Try switching on with the cover removed.

I need to change a keyboard on an dell inpiron 1501, but not sure how?

Using a flathead screw driver, pry up the hinge cover(plastic above keyboard) to remove it. Remove the two screws securing the keyboard to the chassis. lift and pull the keyboard to lcd from the chassis. Rotate the keyboard cable lock, and then remove the keyboard.

Spacebar not working on dell inspiron 1501 laptop

ensure no liquid has spilled on it.
remove keyboard (should be perhaps a screw on the bottom to undo, as well as clips around the keyboard on top, slightly hidden... search for "how to remove keyboard" on your model) -be very careful as the cable connecting the KB to computer can be fragile. Now try removing and then re-connecting the cable.

Probably none of this will fix it (if the KB wasn't wet and then dried now, by a miracle ;) and you will be able to find a very good price for a used, or new, KB online! ..for the time-being, use an external KB.

Dell Inspiron screen coming off at hinges

It's a common problem with Dell Inspiron 1501 / 6000 / 6400 models. So tighten all screws on the bottom, on the back (where power cable connects), then remove cover on top of the keyboard and tighten screws there, then remove screen bezel and tighten screws there - here is how:
then put everything back.

Only have half screen on my Dell Inspiron 1501

What your describing is a failure of the LCD or possibly the inverter cable connection to the LCD. Most likely an LCD replacement will be required.

Cd rom not working

Try reseating the CD drive. Remove the battery and make sure the AC adaptor is not connected. Turn the laptop over and locate the locking screw. It will have a little "Pad Lock" symbol next to the screw. Once phillips screw is removed, pry the securing screw tab to push the drive from the chassis with a screwdriver. Re-insert the CD drive and fasten the screw back into the bottom of the laptop.

If you still have an issue with the CD drive, please feel free to contact me for futher diagnosis.
