Re: Adcom GCD 700
Is there a specific question or just generalities? Open up the top and the Sony optics number should be right on the optic assembly. I believe that it uses a KSS-240 optics assembly. What else do you need?

If you have a play button then it should work fine, the only concern I have, might be set on mute, if that is the case the remote is needed to release the mute function. Try subbing the audio/video cable to rule out.

Hi mate, I experienced this problem awhile back with mine. I had it serviced and the techs couldn't find anything wrong. They cleaned the laser and lubed the tray and sent it back. To my dismay, the problem re-started shortly after arrival and then stopped. By coincidence, I had just finished a home theater set up "that did not have wall to wall carpeting" and low behold the problem stopped and never re-surfaced. I summed it up to static charge/discharge which might also be your problem.
If I understand your issue, you press play and the player does not recognize the disc, the optical pickup may be defective. I suggest you contact an Authorized Adcom Service Center. For further questions, contact Adcom directly.
