Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I want to use the DV connection function using 1394 cable. I have tried two different DV camcorders, and the LG RH397D won't recognise either of them. I am forced to connect using standard RCA cables, which are not the same quality. What I am doing wrong?

Hello,

I don't think you are doing anything because it obvious that you know what you are doing.

The problem could be from the DV slot of your camcorder or the slot of the TV you are connecting the camcorder to.

Try using a DV to USB connection so that you can connect the device to a computer system, to know if the problem is from the camcorder's DV slot or not.

You might still go further by changing the DV wire as it might be the cause of the problem.

Good luck.

I dnt hav usb cable for my handy cam DCR-HC52E ...

Product Summary
4-pin to 4-pin IEEE 1394 iLink FireWire Cable dv out to laptop Connect and transfer home movie from your digital camcorder to Notebook computer.

You will need a Firewire port on your computer, also known as a DV port or IEEE 1394, to use this cable. This is NOT a USB cable.

This DV cable will connect your laptop (notebook)
NOTE: for some models, becuase of no DV jack on the body, this cable connects to docking station/cradle instead of connecting directly to your camcorder.

Good Day! How will i connect and manage my camera to computer.

For the DCR PC101E you need to use a firewire cable or 1394 cable or the i-Link cable which goes to your computer this is one and the same thing with different names. However if your computer does not have a connection for this you must go and buy a 1394 pci card that you have to connect inside your computer. These usually come with the software drivers for the 1394 card.

How can I get Windows 7 Movie Maker to recognise input from my Sony DCR TRV18E Handycam?

On page 230 of the user manual, it describes how to transfer movies from the camera to a computer using an i.Link (IEEE 1394) cable. You will need the 4 pin i.Link cable and an IEEE 1394 connector on your computer in order to do this. You cannot use the USB cable to transfer the video from this camcorder -- you can only transfer still images using the USB cable.
You will have to buy this i.Link cable and (if you don't have a IEEE 1394 port on your computer) a IEEE 1394 adapter card for you desktop computer. If your laptop computer doesn't have a IEEE 1394 adapter, then you're pretty much out of luck.
Once you have the i.Link and 1394 issues resolved, then Movie Maker should then recognize the camera.

I have sony trv33 and windows 7 using firewire 1394 port and cable computer does not recognise camcorder when turned on

Hi,
Your camera will not be recognized when you connect it via firewire. To transfer the video from your camera to your computer you will need a video editing program that is able to capture video from camcorders connected via firewire.
You can try Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7. Alternatively your can search through the internet to find a more advanced video editing software.

Hi a firewire input is different from an 1394 port. For the laptop you can buy an firewire interface.

Firewire problem

It should work. Laptops have a 4pin connection. There is a video on how to specifically connect digital cameras to laptops using 4pin to 4 pin IEEE 1394 cable. So it should work... The video is on www.HandBookLive.com under Electronics category. It doesn't cover the software because all softwares would be different, but you can see that it uses 4 pin to 4 pin. You can double check on this site though.

Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS85 Problem: Capture video with Windows Moview maker via USB

I believe you have to use a Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable to transfer the video. From what I have read, the USB connection is only if you want to use the camcorder as a "live" camera.

Hi, Since videos are taped in DV format, you need a firewire card (IEEE-1394) and cable. These are cheap. May be your PC already has a firewire card. Just check. Windows XP recognises automatically the camcorder. Moreover, its integrated video capture/editing module, Windows Movie Maker, is very userfriendly. USB connection is only good for downloading still images (photos) to your PC. For more information, go to http://www.videohelp.com/. good luck
