Amp protector light going on and dimming

Hello,

first thing you want to check is the fuses in the amp, and power wire if applicable. This might cause the protection light to come on. I do assume you are referring to the protection light on the amp itself and not your car.

Post back if you have checked your fuses and have still not solved the problem.

Thank you for choosing Fixya!

When i hook my amp up only the red v comes on, and every thing is hooked up right.neither the protection or power light will come on

Hello perryman_ton,

Check to see that the remote turn-on lead has power on it when you turn the receiver/head unit on. If it does, the amp is probably defective. If the remote turn-on lead does not have power on it, try connecting it to a known good 12V+ source. A switched lead from the fuse box is best.

Hope this helps.

Amp goes dirctly into protect

ok well it could be two thing wrong your amp dont have a good ground or your amp is a smar amp and your subs must have to be hooked up so the power from the amp cn go to the subs so the amp can see that you do have subs hooked up to take it out of protect o and look at your fuses to to smal or to big will send it to protect to

Memphis PR300.2 Amp protect light on

If it is not turning on your problem is it is not getting power. Check your fuses. The reason an amp goes into protect mode is usually because the subs are not wired up right. Make sure your fuses are good, you have a good ground, and make sure your amp turn on wire didn't come loose when you were putting the deck back in. As for the amp going into protect you probably wired the subs down to too few ohms and the amp you have can't handle it. Try hooking the subs up straight w/o bridgeing them and turn it up to see if it works. If you don't have problems with it then you wired your subs wrong.

Check the fuses and make sure there are no wires touching. Thats all i know for an amp. If you're positive its hooked up right with good wiring the only other thing i could think of is the amp is fried. sucks..
