My ibm r50e usb ports are not wrkng pls smebdy hlp me?

When you say they are not working...
Is there power to the ports (when you plug something into them does the activity light on the device come on?
Are the defective ports the primary ones attached to the motherboard or expansion ports on the front of the case?
Is it a windows o/s failing to recognise them?

If the primary ports on the back of the PC aren't working try deleting all USB branches in the device manager on your windows PC and reboot - they should all reinstall automatically...if they don't your m/b is probably defective.

If they are expansion ports check the main ports on the back of the PC.

It is possible to kill a m/b by plugging daft stuff like fans/lights and remote control missile launchers into your USB ports :-)

After removing a defective Intel D975XBX2 motherboard and replacing it with the same, but good, motherboard [D975XBX2] the front two USB ports on my computer stopped working. The back four USB ports work...

You probably connected the cables incorrectly. Then end of the pins on the motherboard, that has 1 pin missing (5pins in parallel with 4), is the end that has the Shield wire connected on the plug.

Network and video ports not working

Problem with the motherboard, it wouldn't affect those ports on the motherboard when its docked because your using the ports on the docking station instead of the motherboard. You could always go into the BIOS and reset them to defaults just to make sure but honestly it sounds like an issue with the motherboard.

My usb ports stopped working. i unistalled them and restarted my computer. computer saw the usb ports on start up but still doesn't see any devices I plug into it. Is it a bad motherboard or a driver...

Some computers have both USB ports on the front and back of the case. The ones on the bark are directly off the motherboard while the ones on the front are usually connected by a separate cable. If you are trying the front ports, try one of the rear ones instead. if it works in the back, that cable may need to be reconnected inside the case.

TRy connecting to other systems if your harddrive works then try purchasing a externally powered usb hub and use it.

If you have anyother SMPS you can try changing that too

My usb ports on the back of my motherboard dont work

Check that the USB and LAN functions are enabled in the board's BIOS setting. If everything is set properly and they still don't work, you could have a bad motherboard. Check into the warranty if the board is new enough, or just use expansion cards to replace the lost functions.

PS 2 port problem

What is the model number of your motherboard? VIA does not make Processor's/CPU's.
VIA makes chipset's for motherboards.
In order to answer your question I'll need the manual for the motherboard. No manual listed here:

Here is a picture of the VIA P4XB-M motherboard. This model can not use DDR2 memory. (Only, 184pin PC2100 DDR266 DIMM)
Found here:

99.0% of motherboards still use PS2 ports. One colored purple for the PS2 keyboard female port, back side of the MB & the other colored light green, female port, back side of the MB PS2 mouse port. By default, most motherboards have the jumper for PS2 keyboard enabled. Location for this two-pin jumper varies from board to board.
A USB port looks like this:
The PS2 port's are found in the upper left hand corner of this same picture. This next link will show how to connect USB motherboard jumpers including their wire locations. (Standard for most motherboard USB connections).

Sound issues

both ports are integrated audio, both feed off the motherboard, the front ones come off a combo header with hd power lights,
on the back you should have 4 speaker out (surround sound), line in, mic in, 4usb2, 1firewire, 1ethernet, 1parallel, 1vga, 1rgb, 1ps2 keyboard, 1ps2 mouse
fffaab4.jpg try a different speaker out,
you may be attached to one of the fillin ports for speakers that go behind you in surround sound
pink is mic
light blue is line in
light green is headphone/plain stereo
yellow is subwoofer
dark grey is wide
light grey is rear
