Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop
If you tested only one drive and it reported this, the drive has failed. If you tried two different drives and got the same thing, the drive controller is probably what has failed (which means you need to call Dell for a replacement mainboard) Test a second drive and see if you get the same error, most likely you will just need a new drive.

Tips for a great answer:
Nov 05, 2012 | Dell Computers & Internet
Jun 03, 2012 | Dell Inspiron 570 Desktop PC (I5707163PBK)
Sep 22, 2011 | Computers & Internet
Aug 15, 2011 | Dell Inspiron 1545 Notebook
Mar 09, 2011 | Dell Inspiron One 2305 Desktop Computer...
If you can boot it up, I would download and run the registry
utility from iobit.com
It is freeware and works then run CHKDSK/F.
Hope that helps.
