Question about Memorex MVDP1085 Portable DVD Player

Our Memorex DVD Player will not work. We have it plugged into an electrical outlet and the screen will not even turn on. We paid a hundred bucks for this and it has only been used three times.

While I know this may sound odd, are you sure that the electrical outlet is powered? If it is then using a DVM check to make sure that the power supply is putting out the recommended voltage, probably 12vdc. If you have power then you need to make sure that the disc is spinning. One way to do this is to put a DVD in and hit play, after a couple of seconds open the tray and see if the disc is spinning. If it is you have a serious problem with the unit. It would probably not be repairable by you.

Regarding your problem, if the unit is plugged in and it does turn on you can try power resetting it. Leave the unit unplugged for 30 minutes and then plug it back in and turn it on. Also, try connecting the player to another outlets to make sure if the problem is with the product itself or just a bad contact with that outlet.

If still the unit does not go on, I think it is defective and you could take it to a local repair shop to have it reviewed by a technician. Hope this helps you.

Portable DVD player has blank screen when turned on


I don't think it is worth the money to repair dvd players. Unless it is an expensive kind. If it is a little over a hundred bucks it is not worth it. Since the technician will charge you about it's worth or even more. Before assuming it has a problem, check the connections. Try changing the wires that is connected to the back. Also make sure that the television is selected to it's right input, AV1 AV2 AV3 HDMI etc.

Screen went black


That is a low battery warning icon. Check first the DC adapter/charger output. It might be not working so the battery is drained. Then the player will not turn on. The player will still turn on even the battery is dead when plugged into an outlet.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your DVD player needs to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. The problem is Memorex doesn't repair their DVD players, they simply replace them when a customer has a warranty claim. If your player is no longer in warranty (the warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase) please call the above number to see if your model qualifies for any out of warranty options. Getting the player repaired locally would cost far more than what you paid for it, and that's if someone could repair it without any replacement parts from Memorex.

Cracked screen memorex portable dvd player


It is unfortunate that the screen cracked and that your particular model can be found on the internet for nearly what it would cost you to get it serviced if you could get it serviced in a timely manner. For instance there is a Memorex MVDP1078 Player for $114.00 at Overstock.com. A tv repair shop would charge you almost that amount if they can even get the part. If you send it in to memorex you will also be disappointed at how long and how much their out of warranty work costs. Since it is your friend, I would suggest you replace it and tell them what happened. As long as everyone is happy the question of getting a brand new one or getting it fixed should not be a problem. Split screen with pscan warning on


I had the exact same problem and I consulted the manual. All you have to do is turn the PSCAN swtich off. It is located on the back of the dvd player. Then turn the dvd player back on and your problem should be fixed.

is this remote control a universal remote or a dvd remote. if it happens to be a universal remote youll need a code.if you cant get the code just buy another universal remote for tv,vcr,dvd, and its only5-so bucks. the code comes with the remote and have codes for every brand od equip. even memorex
